Khushi was sitting in the terrace garden humming softly to herself whilst playing with the hem of her dupatta.
"You're looking happy" Mr Rathore said cheerfully.
"Clearly, you are not happy about that." Khushi snapped looking up at her father.
"Khushi.. Child-"
"Don't child me Mr. Rathore, You've never really treated me like one."
"We're back to that now are we?" He asked
"I don't want to talk Mr. Rathore."
"Well.. You have to Khushi, How many more days are we going to pretend to be strangers to each other?" Mr. Rathore asked his daughter.
"We are strangers Mr. Rathore, There is no need of pretending anything." Khushi said matter-of-factly.
Mr. Rathore sighed, disappointed. "You're my daughter Khushi." He said.
"Am I now? Thank you for the reminder because your actions have never reflected that." Khushi said coldly.
He crouched in front of her, trying to cup her face. Khushi leaned backwards, out of the reach of his hands. "You know Papa, I would have happily melted at your sweet gestures had I been the five year or even the ten year old Khushi. But today, I'm twenty three and you are thirteen years too late. So I beg of you, don't try to touch me, I don't need your love anymore. Not after all these years of being non-existent."
"Khushi.. I-" He was interrupted by the sound of his wife calling out for him.
"Bharat-ji, Where are you?" Drishti yelled from one of the lower landings. Bharat looked at Khushi who had a sarcastic smile plastered on her face.
"Khush.."
"Drishti Ma is calling you, Go. At least don't disappoint her, I'd really appreciate being left alone." Khushi almost mocked at her father.
"Bharat-ji.. We're getting late. Rishu must've landed already." Drishti came on the terrace.
"Khushi?"
"R..Rishabh?" Khushi gasped, softly.
Drishti nodded. "He's coming to India after a prolonged trip to Amsterdam. He was saying that he wants to discuss about your marriage dates this time." She informed Khushi.
Khushi looked at her bewildered, "W-What?!"
"Isn't that a great news beta. You'll see, this wedding ceremony will be the grandest affair of the whole city." Bharat said proudly.
Drishti nodded, "Why not, you're Bharat Rathore's only daughter. His princess."
Khushi chuckled sarcastically, "Yeah sure."
"We should leave Bharat-ji, Rishabh had specially requested that we should be there to receive him." Drishti said excitedly.
"Yeah. We should leave now. Khushi, you should start getting ready, your fiance is going to be here in some time. You should look your best." Bharat said softly
"He's not my fiance." Khushi said flatly.
"He is going to be your husband soon Khushi beta. You need to start accepting him in your life." Drishti said softly
"Don't you think its my life and I have the right to make my own decisions for me?" Khushi asked rhetorically.
"We're your parents Khushi. We won't make a wrong decision when it concerns your life." Bharat said softly.
