(This is a continuation of the previous chapter, this time discussing the Moons themselves)
The Kingdoms of Prospit and Derse are the two dreaming moons where your dream self can reside. They exist both before and after the start of a session, already having history prior to the start of the game, but never truly existing until the first entry.
As stated in the previous chapter, the two kingdoms function as a home for the player's dream self, and serve a vital role in the game. Before we explore their role in the session, I should first describe each of the planets and how they work.
The Kingdom of Prospit is located near the center of the Incisphere, orbiting Skaia and acting as its moon. This moon is largely characterized by its bright, golden color and for its friendly, benevolent citizens. These citizens tend to act very passively, preferring to be reactive rather than proactive when certain situations arrive, like how PM decides to follow Jack's instructions instead of just going directly for the mail before becoming an Exile.
The citizens of Prospit are supporters of the Vast Croak, an event taking place in Skaia that will result in the new universe's creation. This event will ultimately become the players' end goal. Perhaps because of this, the prospitians treat their players as heroes, or even demigods. They are celebrated, and are considered by the citizens as beacons of hope.
Those who dream in the kingdom of Prospit are usually those who are more reactive towards many situations. Instead of going against the authority, they adapt to it, and make their decisions based off gut instinct. They are more open with their personality, and are more true to themselves compared to their Derse counterparts. Of course, this can lead them to being more vulnerable when their personality is criticized, and can often act too capriciously. They are also held back by their naivety, often being too trusting of those they hold dear. (*)
On the other side of the spectrum, as far away from Skaia as one could possibly be, is the kingdom of Derse. It is located next to the Horrorterror's, and the end of the Incisphere. It is characterized by its purple color, and its pitch dark surroundings, as well as its rather suspicious citizens. These citizens will act very proactively, not really taking things as they come, like how WV organized a rebellion against the war, or, in the most extreme case, Jack Noir.
The citizens of Derse are highly against the Vast Croak, often undermining it as "The Vast Joke", and marking any Vast Croak related imagery as illegal or even offensive. Instead of treating their players like heroes, they more so treat them with a begrudging tolerance. Their attitude towards them is kind of like if you're watching a sports match between two teams you despise; however, you root for the one you hate a little less, or the one closest to your home.
Those who dream in Derse are rebellious spirits, whether its something as big as going against authority, or as small as going against the latest trend. Derse dreamers are skeptical of nearly everything, often not letting themselves get to attached to anyone or anything, and always preparing for a metaphorical stab in the back. They also dont like to show their true selves, preferring to hide behind a mask they made. They can be rather inflexible and introverted, so its very rare to ever see their true self. They make their decisions based on logic, and can be very pessimisstic. As such, this could make a Derse dreamer disattached from their friends, and one must be careful in not letting a Derse dreamer go down a self-destructive path. (*)
So with that aside, what is the purpose of the two kingdoms? Well, due to their conflicting beliefs, the two kingdoms will eventually wage war on each other. The prospitians will try to defend Skaia, while the dersites will attempt to start the Reckoning, which would destroy the Skaia, and with it, any possibility of causing the Vast Croak. However, the dersites will always win, and will always start thr Reckoning. It is the players' goal to defeat the Derse King, and to plant the breeded frog within Skaia's core before the Reckoning completely destroys it.(*Of course, these personality traits arent necessarily exclusive, and there are characters like Nepeta and Vriska who may seem like they would dream on a certain moon, but instead end up in the other. Also, its completely normal for one to have characteristics from both moons. I myself share traits from both moons, but I tend to have slightly more traits from Derse, thus choosing to identify myself as a Derse Dreamer. These are just general descriptions, after all.)
