It was late. Veronica Lodge was huddled on her couch, watching a movie. She had a bowl of popcorn sitting on her lap, and she had just got settled down when she heard a light knock on the door.

Veronica was confused. Who could have been at her house at 10 pm?

Veronica got up anyways, setting her popcorn bowl on the coffee table and pausing the movie. She went to go answer the door.

She swung the door open, and there stood Betty Cooper, dripping wet. Veronica hadn't realized it was raining outside. She gaped at her blonde bestie, quickly pulling her inside.

"Betty what the hell! What are you doing outside this late! Especially while it's raining!"

"I-I'm sorry I should have called...I don't even know if you want me here...maybe I should just go home and-"

"No, no, no, no, no. I don't mind at all." Veronica insisted.

"Are you sure?" Veronica looked into Betty's eyes and realized that she looked and sounded like she'd been crying.

"Yeah, yeah of course. Have you been crying?" Veronica took a few steps closer to Betty, examining her facial expressions.

"Uhhh..."

"Okay. Wait here."

Betty watched Veronica rush to her bathroom. After 5 minutes she heard water running. Veronica came back.

"Okay, I have a shower running for you. Feel free to borrow some of my clothes, I don't mind. Let me know if you need anything. After that we can do whatever you want. Watch a movie, play a game, go to sleep. Talk about what's bothering you? Anything to make you feel better."

Betty smiled through her tears. "Thanks V. Are you sure though...?"

"Of course Betty! You're my best friend. I would do anything for you." Veronica chose time ignore the fact that those two words hurt her to say, more than anything.

Betty smiled, walking to the bathroom. Veronica sat back on the couch to wait for Betty.

15 minutes later, Betty was back in the living room. She sat down on the couch beside Veronica and looked at her. Veronica studied Betty's facial expressions and she looked even more sad then before.

"Betty...what happened? Veronica asked. But she could barely get the question out before Betty dissolved into tears.

Veronica didn't know what to do other than hug her best friend. She didn't know what was wrong. And she was worried as hell.

"J-Jughead broke u-up-" was all Betty managed before crying again.

"Oh Betty...I'm sorry. I know how much it hurts." Veronica tightened the hug and Betty cried harder.

"I-I hate this..." Betty breathed.

"Hate what?" Betty didn't think she'd heard Veronica's voice as soothing as it was now.

"Crying so much...I don't want you to see me so upset. I'm sorry Veronica,"

"It's really not a problem Betty. Whatever makes you feel better. Can I help in any other way?" Betty pulled back, looking at Veronica. She smiled through her tears again.

"Why are you like this?" Betty laughed.

Veronicas eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Like what?"

"You always say things that make me wanna..." Betty trailed off.

"What?" Veronica studied Betty's face. For a few moments until she couldn't anymore.

Because Betty leaned in and kissed her.

Veronica was surprised, but she sighed into the kiss.

They both pulled away after a few seconds. Veronica gaped. Again.

"I-Betty, I thought...you said-" Veronica stuttered. Her heart was racing and she could barely breathe. Betty just laughed at her confusion.

"I know what I said. I know it may seem like I'm moving too fast...you know what? I don't even know if you wanted that kiss to happen. I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry." Betty was close to tears again and started to stand up, but Veronica stopped her by pulling her down into a second kiss. This one, lasted a lot longer.

They pulled away again, finally, and Veronica reared her forehead against Betty's.

"I like you too."
