"How... are you doing that?" I asked as I noticed Ava's arm had partially recovered from the incident.

"What do you mean? Do humans not regenerate limbs?" Her voice was sweet and unwavering in its confidence.

"No, we don't"

"Eww, what happens if you arm gets cut off?"

"We learn to live without whatever we lost... that's how humans do a lot of things I suppose"

Ava just smiled at me as she tried her best to remain relatively still. She was trying to meditate but our conversation, which she began, was preventing that.

Edo entered the room with a worried look on her face "Ava, I'm going to borrow him for a while"

"Okay!"

Edo pulled me outside and we started walking. "Monom saw something, he said it was like a carriage pulled by two bucks. Do you know what that is?"

"One of two things... a noble has been exiled or the king is in the carriage"

"It said it was just one person plus whatever was inside"

"I need my sword."

It was less than an hour before the carriage could be seen from town. I approached nervously. The door opened once I was most of the way there. Out stepped the king, in tall sealed boots to avoid getting himself dirtied. He looked messier, sleepless, desperate. I wished to kill him there but I did not.

"What are you doing here?"

"I offer a peace of sorts"

"You're the one who started this fight!"

"No, I didn't. You killed my people."

"Get our before I kill you too"

"How dare you threaten a k-.... king" his voice trailed as his gaze dropped straight down.

"You have no successors and are the last of your living family, who will inherit the throne?"

"How did you know my father died?"

"WHO‽" I screamed at him

He began to laugh so I removed my blade from his stomach and swung at his neck. Other than slight resistance at the center of his neck, his head came clean off. The carriage left, the rider with it. I didn't care who would become king, only that this was over and I could be free from it all.

His body was buried underneath a sapling we planted, a blue-leaf tree in the middle of a clearing.
