The streets were wet. The clouds stormed. The sky was a velvety navy. Rain lashed down, striking the road like bullets. Wind howled, rushing through the leaves of the trees that lines the pavement. A hooded figure walked under the feeble light of the lampposts. His hands were in his jacket pockets. His head was bowed. He walked meaningfully, as though intent on his location. He turned and vanished.

Young minds are very imaginative. They can trick themselves into believing things are real. It's fascinating, really. Young minds have so much potential. And some can, not only trick themselves into believing something, can trick other people. They can trick other people into believing things are real. Take Toby Edger for example.

He is currently 6 years old. He is at a talent show audition. He's performing magic. His has his top hat, bow tie and oversized tail coat. And a wand. His magic wand.
"Toby Edger?"
Toby is walking up to the plinth where he is to audition.
"Hello Toby," his teacher is saying, "feel free to start whenever you're ready, ok?"
Toby nods.
"can i come and do it in front of you?" he asks.
"Yes, of course sweetheart."
Toby walks up to his teacher. He withdraws a pack of cards from his enormous pocket.
"i will shuffle these cards," he says. He shuffles them, "but that didn't matter, it doesn't matter if i shuffle them," His teacher chuckles slightly. He extends his hand with the cards on it. He wipes his other hand across the top, palm down. When he removes his hand, a toy car is in the packs place. His teacher looks at Toby in awe. She is stunned. Her eyes are wide and her mouth is slightly ajar.
"poof," says Toby proudly.

With Toby and his magic, he wasn't truly aware of the abnormality of his tricks. What he thought was what happened. And he believed he was doing the trick, which, of course, he was, but he thought any old codger could do it. And he thought this for a long time. 5 more years, to be precise.
