"Jenna! Stop!" I laughed, reaching up to take the bowl from my best friend's hands. She was a couple of inches taller than me, and always used it to her advantage.
I hopped, almost reaching the bowl in her hand. I huffed and stepped back. She was laughing her adorable little ass off. "Please?" I begged, pouting.
"Nope, you're just gonna eat all the batter!" She turned away, hugging the bowl close. I took advantage of the fact that she couldn't see me and flicked some flour into her hair. Then I took an egg and cracked it on her head. She turned slowly, wiping egg yolk from her face. "Taylor. Kathleen. Jardine." She said, emphasizing each word. The way my name sounded in her adorable Australian accent made the butterflies in my stomach kick into overdrive.
Jenna and I had been friends since childhood. Now we were living together and I was in love with her. I'd realized this about a year back, when she'd started dating a cheerleader. Thankfully, that didn't last long.
Now, she approached me, grabbing the bag of flour. I backed away, smirking at her. "That's what you get for not sharing."
She quietly reached into the bag and pulled out a handful of flour, maintaining eye contact the whole time. It was distracting.
"Now, now, Jen. Lets not do something we might regret." I said, backing away even more. I was beginning to regret this.
"I don't think I'll regret anything at this point." She took one more step before I burst into a run. She followed closely behind, climbing over couches and chairs. I ran into the closet and held the handle, making sure Jenna couldn't open the door. "Taylor!" She yelled.
"I'm not coming out." I replied.
"Fine, I'll finish the cake without you, loser." She stayed quiet after that, so I didn't know if she'd left or not. After a couple of minutes, I decided to come out.
I was greeted by an overwhelming amount of flour dumped on my head and Jenna whooping as I tried to keep the flour from my eyes. I screamed which cause Jenna to laugh. I tackled her and we both tumbled onto the floor.
I sat on her stomach so that I was straddling her. She struggled against me, laughing. I shook the flour out of my hair and onto her, laughing along with her. These were my favorite moments. We would just fool around without a care in the world, dealing with the consequences later.
"Stop!" She yelled in between giggles. God, I could just kiss her right there.
I stopped dousing her in flour and started tickling her. She laughed uncontrollably and tried pushing me off. I may be short, but I'm not that light.
"Tay!" She yelled.
"Jenna!" I mocked her, laughing.
She managed to push me off and began straddling me. Just like I'd done to her. A million incoherent thoughts ran through my head. I'd pictured this many times. Maybe slightly different.
"What're you gonna do now, Jardine?" She smirked. I grinned, studying her flour-covered face. "You're a fucktard." Then I freed my arms, tangled my fingers in her green hair, and pulled her face down to meet mine, pressing our lips together.
She kissed back after getting over the initial shock. She traced my bottom lip with her tongue and I opened my mouth, letting her in. I let out a moan when our tongues came in contact.
Our little make-out session lasted about 2 minutes. She pulled away, her face a deep red color. "Well.. That took an unexpected turn." She had a smile on her face, at least.
"Oh my god, Jenna." I covered my face, hiding the blush that surely covered my cheeks.
She laughed and pulled my hands away from my face and leaned down until her face was just inches away, "Anything you wanna tell me?"
"I love you. I've loved you for a really long time and at this moment, I don't see a reason to hold back so I won't. Jenna Rachael McDougall, I fucking love you a lot. You may have your bitchy qualities, but at the end of the day, everyone does and they make me love you even more." I said, pouring out my heart and soul into those words.
She smiled and pressed her lips to mine once more. It was a sweet kiss, the kind that made you feel like you were flying. She pulled away, "I hate you so much, ugh." She grinned and pecked my lips. "So much."
"You're mean." I pouted again.
"Fine," she rolled her eyes and looked into mine. "I love you, too."
My heart was beating its way out of my chest, "Since when?"
She paused for a minute, thinking, "You remember that party we went to last year? The one where Alex ended up drunk and hitting on you? That day."
I nodded, thinking back to that day. She'd been invited to a party by some girl she'd met at work. She'd dragged me along only to leave me 5 minutes later. Half an hour later, she came back to find me cornered by a very drunk Alex Gaskarth, an old friend who'd had a crush on me in middle school.
"I still haven't forgiven you for that day, y'know." I gave her a pointed look.
"Yeah, you have." She smirked. "Lets go finish up and get cleaned up." She got off of me and held out her hand. I grabbed it and got up, keeping our hands together.
"Hey, why don't you take a bath and I'll finish up here?" Jenna said, a glint in her eyes. "Okay, I can't really pass that up so yeah, see ya." I grinned and kissed her cheek, running to my room.
I grabbed a T-shirt, shorts, and undergarments and went to our shared bathroom. I turned on the water and adjusted the temperature, adding Dora themed scented bubbles because I'm a grow ass woman and I do what I want.
I shut off the water when the tub is full enough and undress. I get in the warm water and dump water over my hair and face, washing off the flour. I wash my hair and body throughly and close my eyes, singing loudly to whatever song I could think of.
I stayed there for about an hour, and may or may not have taken a short(ish) nap. I grabbed my towel off the rack and got out, drying myself off. I got dressed and let the water drain from the tub.
"Tay, you done?" Jenna called. "Yeah, I'm coming." I replied, coming walking down to the kitchen. Jenna took my hand and covered my eyes with the other. She let go of my hand and gave me something. "Finish it." She said, letting me see again.
I looked down to see the cake, which now had the words 'will you be my girlfriend?' written in green icing. The choices 'A. Yes, B. C, and C. A' just underneath.
I laughed and looked up at her, her smiling face full of hope. "This is a toughie. Hold on." I said. I got up and grabbed more of the candy she'd given me. I checked off all 3 choices and pulled her into a hug, ignoring the fact that she was still covered in flour. She pulled away, a grin on her face. "Thank you." She said, pulling me in for a kiss.
We kissed for a while until I pulled away. I looked into her eyes and smiled, "I love you, Jenna."
She smiled back and held my face between her hands, "I love you, too, Taylor."
