Chapter 2 • The Weekend Starts! [ 1 ]

[ Graduation Day - 11:30 pm ]

*Ring* *Ring*

"Wassup?"

"Hey Ames! Guess what?" The cheerful voice said.

"Yeah, what is it hedgehog?"

"Oh, nothing much really." He chuckled sarcastically.

"You--!"

"Shush! What I'm trying to say is that me and some of my friends are gonna hang tom. Wanna join?"

"Ehh... all I wanna do tomorrow is sleep and design clothes."

"Josh is theree~~"

"Oh wait, really?!"

"Yeah, duh. I'm also part of the soccer team, remember?"

"Omygosh. What am I gonna wear tomorrow?? Simple or girly?? Waitt, ughh.. this is exhausting."

"Whatever you will wear, you'll always look pretty..."

"What? Did you say something?" I asked, since I was busy looking inside my closet.

"Nope.. goodnight Ames. We will meet at the park at lunch tom."

"Goodnight too, Sonic." I said with a smile.

[ Central Park - 10:40 am ]

"Hey Sonic!" I waved at the blue hedgehog. When he saw me, he flashed me a bright smile and ran up towards me. "I thought you'll never show up!" He exclaimed. "Oh come on, it takes time to get ready as a girl ya' know." I sighed, crossing my arms. "Well, good news for you. Cream is also here."

"And you're boyfriend." He said, before running away.

"He's not my boyfriend!!" I yelled, chasing him.

We spent the rest of the afternoon playing soccer and listening to music with Josh's speaker, while Cream's mom cooked us some barbecue and burgers. "Hey Amy, want some?" Josh said, handing me an Ice Pop. "Sure! Thanks." I said.

"So what high school are you going to?" Josh asked, looking at me while licking his Ice pop. "The same with Sonic's. Auburn High. My parents wanted Sonic to protect me since they say that I'm small and timid with others." I said. "Well, isn't that great. I'm also going there too, well with my sister." He said, flashing me a smile.

"Oh, that's great! Like really great! Not that I care.. no but I care!" My words, jumbling up and making me stutter in front of him. Great go, Amy Rose. "Hahahahaha, you are so cute when you're embarrassed." Josh chuckled. I was red as a tomato, trying to hold my composure together in front of him so I won't embarrass myself.

"Ye-yeah." I stuttered. "Welp, gonna go beat Sonic at soccer now. Nice talking to you Amy!" Josh said, before he ran up to his soccer team. I sighed, and patted my cheeks gently. Ugh. Stop it! You embarrassed yourself in front of him. You almost even told him!

"Is everything alright, Amy?"

Surprised, I turned around to see a cream-white rabbit. "Huh, oh it's just you Cream. Thank god." I sighed, face palming myself. "Well, I see that you and Josh are getting quite comfortable~~. Mind sharing the details?" Cream said, smirking. "Hahahhaha, no no. It was nothing. I mean he just smiled at me and handed me an Ice pop. No but maybe it doesn't even mean anything to him. Argh, what am I saying?"

"Amy, your so adorable when your embarrassed." Cream giggled. "Thanks for that comment. Maybe I really did embarrassed myself in front of him." I sighed. Sitting down on one of the benches near us. "No no. I mean it is a great start to know more about him! A way for you and to get closer!" Cream teased.

"Oh, stop it. We know that it will never happen." I said, looking at Josh. "I mean. He is perfect. The way he combs his hair with his fingers, his stature and personality is so mature. He's smart too, and adorable." I said while smiling at Josh, who's playing soccer with his team at the field.

"Oh, Amy. Someday you'll experience of how it is to have a boyfriend." Cream said. "Easy for you to say, your younger than me but you already have a boyfriend! Doesn't my love life just sucks?" "Well, it won't suck anymore until you'll finally have the confidence to confess." Cream said, with a sweet smile. "And even to that blue-boy~~" Cream said, pointing to Sonic who's drinking water at the other side of the field.

"Oh come on, he's just my childhood friend." I said, looking at Cream. She faced me with a smirk, "But didn't you told me that he did looked handsome when he tried on a suit on his Aunt's wedding day?" "Oh come on, that doesn't mean anything." I said.

"Whatever you say, Ames. Wait here, I'm gonna help my mom pack." Cream told me, waving me a 'goodbye' before she ran up to her Mom. Since I was now alone, I finally finished the pop and threw it in a nearby trash. Almost sunset. I thought, checking the time on my watch. 5:25 pm.

Normally, I would just sit down on a bench and watch the soccer team play. But.. earlier I saw a cliff I wanted to climb up on. Following the staircase of the cliff, I finally reached the top of it and saw the whole city and the park. Quickly sitting down on one of the benches facing the sun, that's now setting, I quickly reached for my phone to take photos of it.

*footsteps* *footsteps*

"Who's there?" I asked, as I stood up and turned around to see who it was.

"Sup, Ames." Sonic greeted.

"Ew. You're so sweaty." I joked with a smile.

"If I'm sweaty, it means that I did practised hard today." He chuckled, sitting on the bench.

"Well you did. And for that, congrats." I said, as I clapped my hands together with a smile.

"So... " Changing the subject.

"How was your time with Josh?" He asked. Rubbing a towel on his face.

"Well, I did embarrassed myself. I almost told him that I liked him." I said, facepalming myself.

"Well, you did your best. Congrats." He said. Using my words sarcastically.

"Oh come on. At least mine was real. Yours isn't." I pouted.

He did the 'oops' pose again. And I slapped his leg, as hard as I can.

"Ow! What was that for?" He cried.

"Guess what you did." I said. Sarcastic.

"Okay okay, sorry Ames." Sonic said, patting my head like a dog. We looked at each other, and laughed.

"So how's your mom?" I asked.

"She's fine. She takes medicine everyday, but she still has those 'monster' headaches." He said. Looking at me.

"At least she's taking her pills. I wouldn't want that incident to happen again."

"Yeah. I still remembered how a baby I was. My mom suffered because of what her stepfather did to her." Sonic said. At the mention of his step-grandfather, he growled and looked at the pavement below angrily.

"Yeah. She did suffered from that abuse, good thing her stepfather was sent to jail. I'm glad that she's okay now." I said, flashing him a cheesy smile.

"Why does your smile always look awkward?" Sonic asked. Laughing.

"Idk. But it makes me look cute." I joked, as I did a peace sign.

"Hah. Big joke. I am cuter." He said, smirking.

"In your dreams, hedgehog. Let's go, they're already waiting for us." I said, rolling my eyes at him. Speeding up to Cream.

"Wait! Wait for me Ames!" Sonic called.
