(This may only slightly appear to be similar to Twilight - you have to squint - but that's only the first chapter, I assure you this is far better a story than that, and hardly similar. Not even a percentage, promise!)

I'm going to warn you, before I begin this tale of love - that this isn't truly a love story at all. No, this is a question of life and death.

Their clan started off quite small, but soon it became a comfortable number that Simon was able to be content with. He'd first changed Louis - his eldest son of his six children. When he changed Louis it was really just for a bit of cheap fun, he never planned to end up changing Louis' destined mate, Harry Styles, three years later. But he did, and that began to process of his happily content family of vampiric children.

After Harry, Simon found himself becoming bored and lonely (since Harry and Louis spent most of their time together, of course). That's when he found Cher, a beautiful disaster that really didn't deserve death - even though she hated her life as a vampire. She was greatful of Simon though, regardless.

Cher became Simon's pride. Became an international popstar in the 80s, but soon had to fake her death due to rising suspicion. Cher's original dream in the 50s had been to sing the blues, or maybe join Broadway, so she was more than happy when Simon agreed to let her have a taste of fame until the general public began asking questions about her physical appearance. So her dream only later about ten years, which was plenty enough for her.

Then came along Zayn Malik, who was apart of a human gang - always a nasty thing to be apart of, especially when Zayn was accused of betraying his friends - and they turned against him, left him bleeding out on a London curb.

Cher changed him - Simon had been furious but later accepted it. Simon was sure that Zayn would have been Cher's mate, but of course they'd only grown to be extremely close friends - brother and sister. Zayn's mate turned out to be Perrie Edwards, and the two of them live on their own somewhere in Germany, Simon often misses them.

Last came Liam and Niall, step brothers who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Rouge vampires got to them, changed them, and left them stranded. Simon found them and brought them home, Liam and Cher got along just fine - and even decided that they'd been each other's mates.

That left Niall, still looking for his darling princess.

Zayn and Perrie come for visits often, but only for certain holidays - Simon receives plenty of letters - apparently they're starting their own family soon. Simon warned them that it had been risky, and to choose who they wish to change wisely, and for good causes - not for the pleasure of doing it.

Simon was a high school teacher, a suitable job for a vampire who needed good aliases and easily flexible for his and his family's abrupt moves and constant running (being precautious in not being revealed).

Louis wasn't able to pass as a high school student, his certificates always labeling him at a twenty-one year old (the age he'd been turned), therefore he took a job in the medical field and words with ill children while his mate, Harry, attended four solid years of teenage hell.

Cher attended with him, posing as his twin sister, while Liam attended a year ahead of them. They didn't show their affection for each other, finding it abnormal and not really appropriate for the public or silly humans.

Harry though let's it known his first day of every freshman year he's been in that his boyfriend is Louis Tomlinson, and he is, in fact, a homosexual.

Though he's used to getting a bit of hate for it, he doesn't let himself become bothered by it, because these were humans- and they were terribly oblivious to how the world worked.

Niall, being Liam's step brother to begin with, stays glued to his side during their entire lives posing as high school students - glad that Cher doesn't get upset about it, and they manage to all get along quite nicely.

The Irish blond is sure that he's destined to be alone forever, like Simon always say, but Cher always tries to assure Niall that there is someone out there for him. He just has to wait a bit.

Luckily, and almost like a lick of destiny, his waiting is soon coming to an end, because when sixteen year old Bethan Parker moves to the small down of the family of vampires, things are bound to get messy...
