With that they left with the elf servants. Once they left, Thorin entered with a few elf guards behind him. As soon as he saw me, his eyes widened. Before he could say anything, Thranduil spoke. "Some may imagine that a noble quest is at hand. A quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon. I myself, suspect a more prosaic motive. Attempted burglary, or something of that ilk."

Thranduil then leaned down to take a closer look at Thorin. He seemed to suspect something. "You have found a way in. You seek that which would bestow upon you the right to rule. A king's jewel. The Arkenstone. It is precious to you beyond measure, I understand that. There are gems in the mountain that I too desire. White gems of pure starlight. I offer you my help."

A smile then appeared on Thorin's face. "I am listening."

"I will let you go, if you but return what is mine." Thranduil explained.

"A favor for a favor." Thorin commented.

Thranduil bowed his head. "You have my word. One king to another."

I anxiously waited for Thorin's response, hoping that he would accept my uncle's help despite the conflict that exists between the elves and dwarves. And then a disturbing thought came to my mind. If Thorin knows I am part elf would he cast me out of the company?

"I would not trust, Thranduil, the great King, to only his word. Till the end of all days be upon us!" Thorin snapped, shocking Thranduil and my father. "You, lack all honor! I have seen how you treat your friends! We came to you once, starving, homeless; seeking your help. But you turned your back! You turned away from the suffering of my people and the inferno that destroyed us!"

I glanced over at Thranduil to see that he wasn't denying anything. So it was Thranduil, my own uncle, who turned away from the dwarves. My father tried to step in. "Now Thorin, let's not say something we may regret."

Thorin narrowed his eyes at my father before speaking in a different language, one different than the language of the elves.

"Do not talk to us of dragon fire! I know its wrath and ruin. I have faced the great serpents of the North." Thranduil shot back.

Without warning, we saw a part of his face changed, looking burnt and badly wounded. I was taken back by this. Thranduil's face then returned to its normal state as he stepped back, standing beside my father and me. He narrowed his eyes at Thorin. "I warned your grandfather of what his greed would summon, but he would not listen."

Thranduil turned his back to Thorin as he walked up the small stairs leading to his throne. "You are just like him."

He then motioned for his guards to take Thorin away. The guards grabbed Thorin, who immediately struggled against them. As Thranduil finally sat in his throne. "Stay here if you will, and rot. A hundred years is a mere blink in a life of an elf. I'm patient. I can wait."

Sensing Thorin's frustration and pain, I entered his mind in an attempt to calm him. "It's alright Thorin, I'll see if I can help."

Thorin was baffled upon hearing my voice, but he managed to give me a nod. Once Thorin left, I whipped around to face my uncle. "Why did you do that?"

"You know Thorin, don't you?" My father observed.

"Yes I do. My friends and I are heading to Erebor with Thorin and his company of dwarves." I explained.

"What business do you have with dwarves?" Thranduil asked.

"Like I just said, we are heading to Erebor." I repeated.

"But why Nídhdess?" Father asked.

"My name is Miona, not Nídhdess." I retorted.

"But it was the Sindarin name I gave you." Father mentioned.
