" I can't believe that just happened"

" I know," the ninja turtle agreed.

" Thank you," I said sincerely looking up at Leo.

" For what?" he asked completely oblivious.

" Um.. for knocking out my ex, thank you," I said to him as if it was so obvious.

" He was your ex?" he asked looking down at me.

" Yeah, how did you not pick up on that?" I chuckled.

" Well... the music was loud in there, I just saw him being dick to you and, you know the rest," he shrugged so casually, it seemed as if some part of this newly gained information made him uncomfortable so suddenly.

" Oh ok" I nodded not really knowing what else to say. After that the conversation went awkward and quiet.

" So if you dated him... you are probably part of that whole popular, real stuck up group," Leo said, it wasn't much of a question, more of a statement, he must of felt his assumption was correct.

" I was once. In high school when I dated him, I was acting like someone I'm not, I just craved fitting in and being popular so badly that I became this complete different person, I was a real bitch. Our relationship didn't last long after graduation, for obvious reasons, he's a douche," I explained to him, "Sometimes I wish I could go back and say something to my past self as she began high school and warn her not to go down that road. Pretending to be someone your not, just to fit in is completely pointless, no one knows the real you, everyone else you hang out with will be just as fake and not give a dam about you and most of all, peer pressure begins to control your every move, thats how I got hooked on my smoking" I continued to talk, soon realising I should probably shut up, " so yeah, that isn't my scene anymore" I somehow summarised everything I just said into that sentence.

" What is your scene?" He asked turning his head to look at me.

" I honestly don't know anymore," I sighed.

" Well you can be apart of my scene" he smiled.

" And what would that be?" I asked with eyebrows raised.

" Total rejects with good music taste" he smiled.

" Oh that sounds about right" I chuckled, I looked down at the ground as I walked, kicking the same rock along the path.

" You know ninja turtle, you're kinda alright" I said taking a quick glance at him before putting my attention back to the concrete.

" Kinda alright?"

" Yeah, I like you " I admitted and half smiled.

" Well, I like you too. You are pretty awesome" he smiled nudging me in the side. I giggled and nudged him back.

We walked along the path having our own nudge war until we starting nearing my apartment building.

" This is it" I said turning and entering the building, ninja turtle followed behind me. The lobby isn't much, just mail boxes, the broken elevator and staircase. Someone has decorated the lobby with hanging Halloween decorations and carved pumpkins.

" We have to use the stairs, elevators broken" I stated and began walking up the stairs.

" Like in Big Bang Theory" Leo smiled.

" Yeah a bit like that" I chuckled, we walked up the stairs together, headed to level 4, where my apartment is.

Occasionally a door would have a carved pumpkin outside welcoming trick or treaters.

I could hear the faint sounds of giggling and footsteps running down the stairs. As we rounded the corner we were met with a group of 4 boys. They all looked like brothers, the oldest about 13 dressed as Scream, then a boy dressed as a skeleton aged about 11, the next boy looked around 7 and was dressed as Frankenstein. The youngest boy, around the age of 4 really caught our eye though, dressed as a ninja turtle, Michaellangello to be specific.

The young boy dressed as the ninja turtle stopped in his tracks, his eyes widening and mouth forming an 'o' shape as he stared in admiration up at Leo who stood next to me.

" Hey little buddy" Leo smiled as he crouched down to meet the boys height.

" Hi" the little boy smiled shyly at his fellow ninja turtle.

" I like your costume" Leonardo smiled a big smile at the little boy, watching them together was adorable and I couldn't help but let a smile spread across my face as I observed the two.

" Where is your weapons?" the little boy asked, the little boy carried a pair of nun-chucks as well as his trick or treat bucket half full of candy.

" I couldn't find them! I didn't keep my room clean and they went missing!" the older ninja turtle groaned acting frustrated.

" SEE! listen to mummy and clean your room!" the young boy scolded Leo pointing a finger at him.

" Yes I know! you should always listen to mummy" Leo agreed smiling and nodding.

" NATE C'MON!" I heard the boy dressed as the skeleton call from a few stairs down.

" I gotta go! bye!" the young boy said hastily with wide eyes.

" See ya!" Leo smiled, the young boy held up his hand for a hi-five, which Leonardo gave in to, their hands slapped together before the little boy ran off joining the other boys.

Leonardo stood up towering over me once again, I smiled at him with a closed mouth, he smiled back.

" What?" he asked, the smile still on his lips.

" You are really something." I said still smiling up at him.

" So being nice and getting along with kids is a bad quality?" he said raising an eyebrow at me.

" I didn't say it was a bad thing, just something else..." I corrected him trailing off at the end.

" What's that supposed to mean?" he asked as we began walking up more stairs again.

" I'm just saying, it is truly something great, having that instant connection with kids, it definitely makes some one more appealing" I said not realizing what I was insinuating.

" So am I more appealing now?" Leo asked wiggling his eyebrows, I smiled and slowly shook my head as I opened my apartment door.

" Please, I barely know you and I can't even properly tell what you look like with that mask covering your face... why do you still have it on?" I laughed pushing the door open, this is the first time I've seen this guy in some decent lighting.

" You still have your makeup on" he said back as we walked inside my small, dark apartment.

" True," I admitted flicking on the light switch making the apartment light up. " But as soon as I wipe off this makeup, I'm taking off your mask" I told him.

" Deal," he said with a quick nod of the head.

" It wasn't negotiable," I smirked.

" Welcome to my crib!" I said rather loudly and embarrassingly before he could reply, introducing Leo to my apartment, waving a hand out as I did so.
