It's a chilly Monday morning, the cold breeze, and the orange and red leaves falling down on the ground as I walked to the field. This morning, it's a free period. Idk why, but the principal wanted to 'switch' some schedules to at least to make the school days unexpected.  So that's why I'm here, sitting on the bleachers and sketching, while the soccer team is practicing their daily morning exercise. Since it's fall, I wanted to design another collection since my imagination is flooding my mind recently.

"Hey, Ames!"

I look up from my sketchbook to see Sonic running up to me, holding his tumbler. "Nice uniform," I said, as he sat down beside me. "Thanks. Josh designed it for the team, it's actually really warm." Sonic said. He got quiet and I felt him look at my sketch, "Oh wow. You're gonna join the design competition?"

"No, not really. I'm just letting out all of my imagination here, I had too much of it since the last weekend." I told him, sketching the last detail of the last look. "There we go, all done."  "Why not join? I heard the prize is secret and only fewer people joined this year." Sonic said. "I.... can't," I mumbled, tucking away my sketchbook.

"Why not? Your designs are awesome, I'm sure you'll win. No sweat." Sonic smiled. "Thanks but, of course, I'm still thinking about it. But... the truth is... I think my designs aren't enough for the competition." I sighed. "Oh? How come?" Sonic asked. "I think there's something missing, and I can't figure out what that is," I said, trying to think what it is.

"Maybe it's my cuteness that's missing." Sonic joked. I nudged his arm and laughed, "In your dreams, hedgehog."

"I'm saying the truth!" He joked more. I laughed alongside him and told more stories about the past days I experienced. "So, how's the preparation of the game this month?" I asked him. He opened his tumbler and drank some water, "It's been going great, the coach even told me that I have the chance to be the captain this year."

"That's great Sonic! Your mom would be happy." I smiled. "Heh, thanks to your dad's treatment, she already has returned from the hospital. My dad has canceled his business trip to Westopolis to visit this weekend." He said. "That's great! You and your sister would get to hang out with him more for a bit." I said with a smile. "Say, how's the yearbook committee?" Sonic looked at me with a smile.

"Oh, nothing much. The same old habit of me being late to every meeting, taking pictures, designing the layout, blah blah." I said. He laughed, "If you don't enjoy it anymore, why bother?"

"I do enjoy the yearbook committee! It's just that nothing changes, we always have to follow every policy. Like only school events--" I stopped and realized something. "Sonic you are such a genius!" I said, holding his hand excitedly.

"I am?" He asked in confusion.

"Oh, it'll be a great thing to change it up a bit! We would take pictures of important and memorable moments of students enjoying the school events and days! It's important to attract more enrollees!" I said, clapping my hands together in excitement.  "Thanks, Sonic! Catch ya' later!" I said, hugging him tightly before I ran inside the school.

"Heh, she's really unpredictable." Sonic smiled, before returning to practice soccer.

"Amy? What are you so happy about?" Cream asked me. "The principal approved my suggestion to change up a bit of the yearbook's layout, it'll be a blast!" I told her, typing some notes on my laptop. "That's great." A voice said. I looked up to see Josh Smith, smiling at us.

My heart immediately stopped beating, "Oh! Hi, Josh! I didn't realize you were there!" I mumbled. I was nervous, LIKE REALLY NERVOUS, my heart was beating so fast even though I'm just saying hi to him. "Hey, Amy! What are you two doing?" Josh smiled. "Oh, um... we're just... talking about... things." I muttered, looking at Cream with an awkward smile. I think she didn't get what I meant though, because as soon as I looked at her, she just smiled.

"I'm gonna get pasta, bye Ames and Josh!" Cream smirked before she walked away. The heck! She didn't get what I meant! Oh my gosh, that was supposed to signal her to help me talk to him! Not leave me alone with him! "So.. I'm sorry for interrupting but I was actually gonna ask you something," Josh said, smiling. "Yeah, what is it?" I asked him, shutting my laptop off.

"Are you willing to join me this Friday? I mean, if you're not busy." He asked, scratching the back of his head. O my gosh. Is this it? Are the gods finally giving me my first date? Am I gonna finally escape the single life? Mobius, get ready! Amy Rose isn't gonna be single any longer! "I overheard you talking about how the yearbook is changing things up, and I want you to photograph the soccer team's best moments to encourage more people to join the team," Josh said, flashing me a smile. My ears drooped and my heart broke a little, but I quickly hid it with a cheesy smile.

"Ye-yeah! Of course!" I told him. Aw, come on! I counted the chickens before the eggs even hatched! Oh, the talent of overthinking, how could you do this to me? "Thanks, Amy! You're awesome!" Josh said before he walked away. I mean, he called me awesome. That's great. "I see, how great is it to still experience the crush phase." Cream said as she sat down in front of me. I rolled my eyes, "Yeah yeah, Cream. You don't have to remind me every day that I'm single."

"Hah. Not at all. I just love teasing you." Cream giggled, as she ate her pasta.

"So, what did he asked you anyway?" Cream smirked. "Heh, I overthought too much. I thought it was something else, but he was just inviting me to take pictures of the team." I sighed in disappointment. "Hahaha! Oh, Amy, you're so cute." Cream laughed. "Stop it! I'm so ashamed of how quickly I concluded the situation." I scolded. "Well, it does actually sound like a date. But not really." Cream said. "I think he doesn't even see it as a date, he sees it as a business." I said, opening my laptop. "It's fun to imagine, you know." She told me, eating her pasta.

"Yeah, and overthink," I said. We both laughed and continued to do our work together.

"Bye Ames!" Cream said before she entered her car. I waved at her and smiled, "Bye Cream!" "So, how was your day?" Pete asked me, removing his AirPods. "It was great! The yearbook committee can finally add some important and goofy moments to make it more welcoming." I told him with a smile. "That's great, you can photograph me pranking people." He chuckled. "Will do." I laughed.
