Parodies

Skulduggery regretted many things in his life but none as much as allowing Valkyrie to sing her parody of Demons by Imagine Dragons, in the Bentley. It was damaging his non-existent eardrums.

"When your uncle dies,

And your only one who cries,

And a skeleton,

Comes and tells you 'lies',

When he's holding fire,

The situation's dire,

A creep tries to kill you,

Your brain tends to tire,

Taken name if your game,

Or find your truuuueee name,

But with the beast inside,

There's nowhere we can hide,

Skulduggery Pleasant,

Lord Vile and Darquesse,

The time for Dead Men's come,

The time for Dead Men's come,

When my hand starts to glow,

Look into my eyes,

It's where my demon hides,

It's where my demon hides,

Don't get too close,

It's dark inside,

It's where my demon hides,

It's where my demon hides,

There's reflection trouble,

A safe little bubble,

Ravel killed his friends,

No now make that double,

Darquesse got out,

And roamed all about,

I killed my sister,

Lived five years in doubt,

Now Omen Darkly's here,

And the end is near,

This is our only hope,

I don't know how to cope,

I know this is my fault,

We have to fight a cult,

The Dead Men fell apart,

I need to fix my heart,

When my hand starts to glow,

Look into my eyes,

It's where my demon hides,

It's where my demon hides,

Don't get too close,

It's dark inside,

It's where my demon hides,

It's where my demon hides,

They say it's what you make,

I say it's up to fate,

It's woven in my soul,

Or so that I've been told,

My guilt, it burns so bright,

It tries to take my light,

I can't escape this now,

Unless you show me how,

When my hand starts to glow,

Look into my eyes,

It's where my demon hides,

It's where my demon hides,

Don't get too close,

It's dark inside,

It's where my demon hides,

It's where my demon hides" Sung Valkyrie. The song and lyrics were beautiful, even Skulduggery had to admit that but her singing, not so much. He did really enjoy the parody however.

Erskine's soul was gazing up at them from hell. Erskine liked to sing while performing his punishments but could never find a song to express him properly but Valkyrie had just given him an idea. He was going to make a parody of Gasoline (by Halsey). Erskine tip-toed across the field of broken glass with renewed vigour and resumed his laborious punishment. Unfortunately, I can not go into the details of his punishment but essentially, it was the wrath and will of every fangirl bearing down on him. Ravel began to sing to pass the time, make his suffering more enjoyable and to spite his torturers.

"Are you insane like me,

Been in pain like me,

Been tortured, never rescued, bound by chain like me,

Had a vision lurking up inside your brain like me,

Made a difference to this world to hide the shame like me,

Are you hurting 'cause your plans went up in flame like me,

Do you tear yourself apart to take the blame like me,

Do the people hate everything you've became like me,

Do you know that everything has been in vain like me,

And all the people say,

You can't make up, this was too extreme,

You're part of Halloween, These events were unforeseen,

Is your legacy just lying on a screen,

You broke apart your team, so your soul is now unclean,

Why did I go down this road?,

My choices will only explode,

And my eyes are gold or so I've been told,

Are you estranged like me,

Have you changed like me,

Thinking everything you've ever said was lame like me,

Do you pick apart, despise your claim to fame like me,

Knowing your life, your friends won't be the same like me,

And all the people say,

You can't make up, this was too extreme,

You're part of Halloween, These events were unforeseen,

Is your legacy just lying on a screen,

You broke apart your team, so your soul is now unclean,

Why did I go down this road?,

My choices will only explode,

And my eyes are gold or so I've been told." Erskine sang his heart out and despite being tortured and in immense agony, his singing was better than Valkyrie's. It was melodious, and sweet, faultlessly slicing through the air and bringing bliss. If only people were open to change, they would see that Ravel thought he had no choice, that he regretted everything, that he only thought that he was doing what's best for the world. Maybe then, and just maybe, they would allow themselves to forgive. After all, he died saving the world.

Ignore the plot to this. The main point was to get across the song parodies. The first parody, My Demons, belongs to Glostick1 and the second belongs to me. Go follow Glostick! Do it! If you don't I will hunt you down and throw Ravel at your head. You have been warned.
