As I entered my office, I saw the love of my life sleeping on my couch. She looks so lovely with her slightly parted lips and her right hand on top of her stomach while her right hand is covering both her eyes.
I scooted closer to her direction and sat on the seat adjacent to the couch. And I just sat there, caressing her hair, spending my time just admiring her beauty.
After a few minutes, she opened her eyes and said the words that broke my heart,
"Let's get a divorce. I'm not happy anymore"
With a broken heart, I showed her a smile. I mustered all my courage to show her a happy smile but I know that it looks fake.
"If that's what you want," I told her half-heartedly.
She pursed her lips and nodded. She stood up and headed towards the door. She was about to open it when I called her name.
She looked back, hands still at the doorknob and her forehead a little creased.
She tilted her head at the side as she asked, "What is it?"
Instead of answering her question, I just stood there. Staring at her. Memorizing every details of her perfect face. After I felt contented of watching her, I sighed as I shook my head.
"Goodbye, my love," I whispered under my breath as she closes the door behind her.
That was the day I lost her. My best friend, my lover, my wife.
