July's P.O.V

Everyone thought I was a nobody. That I was worthless and I had nothing. There was a little detail they didn’t know about me. All but one person knew my background. That person was my best friend Meghan. She was one of the only people who actually wanted me as a friend. I come from a bad history. My parents were alcoholics. That’s why my siblings and I don’t live with them anymore. I lived with them until I was about nine-years-old. We all got taken away, because they didn’t come home for about a week and they made me and my older brother take care of my siblings. My older brother didn’t really even help take care of them. I guess that’s my life before I went into Foster Care.  My life is way better than it was when I was with my parents I guess. I get three meals a day, a bed to sleep in, and my own phone for emergencies only though. It’s way better than how it was six years ago. My older brother was about eighteen when our parents got us taken away so he was able to go out on his own. Some of my siblings were sent to a different Foster Family than me. They were so traumatized, so after time in a they went to another Foster Family. They didn’t know who I was or that they had any siblings. I wish I didn’t know anything about my real parents sometimes. All they did was ruin my life and I don’t know where they are and I don’t want to either.

The next day at school I endured more teasing. I was usually the main topic of gossip around here, because unlike some people I want to be myself. I get called a “slut” stupid, mental, and a bitch. Well most of the girls call me that, because the guys think I’m hotter than some girls. Well to me I’m ugly as those other girls, but the one girl that all the guys want. That’s what Meghan says but I highly doubt he said that. Knowing Meghan, she probably one of the most gossip girls in school. She gets along with some of my mortal enemies, but I love Meghan. Who could blame me? She’s sweet, adorable, and she’s talented. Unlike me of course. I can’t sing, draw, and much more. I’m not smart either. Meghan could get any friend she wanted, I can’t. The fact that she choose me over her snotty ex best friend is hilarious in my own and other people’s opinion.

“July! Where are you?”, Meghan calls across the hallways, trying to find my location. I was too embarrassed so I try and hide my face. Of course Meghan is a good “finder” so she was able to spot me easily.

“Hi Meghan.” I say in a quiet voice. I catch her glance. They pay more attention to finding my books. When I find it, I grab them and I shut my locker. She smiles as she sees my attention is back on her.

“Sweetie, are you okay?” she asks me. She smiles and then when she sees my frowning face. She takes her fingers and she makes a fake smile on my face.

“Does it look like I am, Meghan?” I say in reply. Then I spot Meghan’s ex best friend and my mortal enemy, Nicole.

“Oh look it’s the misfit.” Nicole says. She glances at my outfit of black skinny jeans and a t-shirt from my favorite video games The Legend of Zelda.

“Leave July alone Nicole. We all know you feel insecure so you have to tease other people, but leave July alone.” Meghan says. She looks Nicole right in the eye as she says this. I’m proud of Meghan for that. She’s a good friend and I’m a crappy friend to her. I’m just surprised Meghan hasn’t left me for another group.

“Meghan, I remember when we were good friends. Well I guess since you met this creep, it’s changed.” Nicole points out obviously. She’s always pointing out stuff that everyone’s afraid to do.

“Nicole, you’ve always been like that and you always been that way. July isn’t like that way, that’s why I like her. She’s sweet, unlike you.” Meghan says like she owns the place. By now a lot of people are crowd around my locker.

“You know Meghan, you were popular before you found this loser. Look at her, with her cheap skinny jeans, and her lame ass t-shirt. I mean no one even knows what it is. I can go on and on about how la-” Nicole gets interrupted by a teacher. The loud whisper of kids gossiping immediately goes quiet.

“Nicole, Meghan, detention after school my room! Everyone get to class!” she yells. She immediately leaves and goes to her classroom. The rest of the group goes to their locker and gets to class. I find Meghan by her locker. She seems okay.

“You know, you didn’t have to that for me” I say. She looks at me with a worried look on her face.

“Yes I did July.” she paused for a minute. “I worry about you. Okay? Your a sad person! I know what you have been through, I’m your best friend I worry about you.” she said. Then she grabbed her books and went to class.
