Chapter 12

Nic sits down on the sofa, and I sit across from him. The silence lasts until he starts talking again.

Nic: I had to see you, I missed you a lot. I mean as friends, you know? So I saved up allowance for the past few months, and got enough money for tickets. With my familys help.

Me: Yeah, I missed you too? As friends, that is. And why did you do that? We could just text or Skype.

Nic: Its better in person. Anyways, I should go to the hotel room I paid for, goodnight.

I decide not to tell Bethany, or my parents. I tell Winifred, I know she will have a open mind(whether positive or not). My family is still asleep around 11, I guess a late night? So I just put a Chevron sweater and blue jeans. My cat Prissy(A/N who I just thought of) snuggles up on my lap, purring. We bought her recently at a nearby petshop. I am pretty much a cat person.

Mom walks down the stairs, an angered look in her eye. She storms into the kitchen, me and Prissy following. She crumples up the newspaper I set out for her. She must have seen the startle look in my face.

Mom: Winter, good morning sunshine! How did you sleep last nigh?

Me: I slept fine, what happened? You seem, well mad? Were you and dad or someone fighting last night?

Mom: Well kindof, but it is fine dont worry about it, hun. You seem a little upset too!

Me: I-I dont want you and dad to divorce! I read those papers you left on the counter! WHY WHY WHY???

Mom: Sweetie what are you talking about?

Me: Those papers you and dad signed, plus you look really mad MOM!

Mom: Okay, lets have a seat, Winter.

Me and mom find our seats at the kitchen counter.

Mom: First off I am upset because I forgot to save a report for my new job, and second of all, me and your dad signed that paper for your grandparents divorce.

Me: Grammy and Poppa? Why are they divorcing, I thought they loved eachother!

Mom: No silly! Grandma Jo and Grandpa Bob, they have always had issues with their relationship. They just wanted a small approval!

Me: Oh mom, thank goodness! I love you and dad, together forever!

She laughs and gives me a huge hug. I text Winifred that mom and dad are staying together, for now at least.
