The doctor was sitting in the tardis consol room, making it so people could send Derpy and him emails instead of mail. He then hooked up a camera to respond to the emails. Just as he was finishing, a new message appeared. The doctor clicked on the email and read it. Melanie_Scatch: doctor, why don't you just tell Derpy how you feel?
"Well... I suppose I could try. But I have to tell her in the best way possible. It will have to include muffins for sure, and maybe a sunset..." the doctor thought. He told Derpy he was going out for a while, and went to go see Lyra, a unicorn friend of Derpy. Together they came up with a way to get Derpy to come to the tallest hill in Ponyvill, and the doctor would surprise her with muffins. Then when the sun would be setting, Lyra would turn on the bubble machine and the doctor would tell Derpy how he felt. He spent the rest of the day preparing and making sure everything was perfect.
Back in the tardis,Derpy was in the swimming pool,wondering why the doctor had been gone so long. She dove underwater and looked up, watching bubbles float from her mouth up towards the shimmering surface, sparkling all the colors of the rainbow. As she was looking up, she saw the doctor standing at the edge of the pool. Derpy swam to the surface and climbed out. She shook her mane out and grabbed her towel to dry off. As she was drying off, she looked over at the doctor and said:"what took you so long, you were gone for the whole day?" The doctor seemed to blush a little (which Derpy found adorable) and said:" there's somepony here to see you. Derpy followed the doctor out of the tardis and saw Lyra. "I have something awesome to show you!" Lyra said, and started to trot off with Derpy following behind. When they got to a hill, Lyra stopped and pointed to the top of the hill. Derpy flew up to the top and saw the doctor sitting on a picnic blanket. She landed and saw that the doctor had brought blueberry muffins, her favorite.
"I thought it would be a nice time for a picnic." The doctor said, and handed her a muffin. She gladly accepted it and took a big bite out of it. After they had finished all of the muffins, they talked for a while and the doctor noticed the sun setting. He stood up, giving Lyra her cue. As Derpy stood up, about to leave with the doctor, she noticed a bubble. Then there were two, then three, and before she knew it, she was surrounded by bubbles. Every single bubble reflected the colors in the sunset, and when she turned to the doctor, the colors were reflected in his eyes as well. The doctor blushed and looked shyly at Derpy. "Derpy, you are the most caring and accepting pony I know, and you can always make me laugh when I need it. I'm better when your with me and I can't see myself traveling with anypony else. I love you, Ditzy Doo."
When she heard the doctor use her real name along with everything else, she was so happy she didn't know what to do. She looked up at the brown stalian and replyed:" I love you too." She was about to say more when the doctor leaned over and their lips met. Derpy melted into the kiss and closed her eyes. His lips were as soft as she had imagined, and they tasted like blueberry muffins. When the doctor pulled away, she starred at him, them pulled him into a hug. "You have no idea how long I've wanted you to do that." Derpy whispered into the doctor's mane. The doctor nuzzled into her mane and said:"come on, let's get back to the tardis before it gets dark."
