You might think Hangul is like a 30 minute lesson. One snap of a finger, and you will get the hang of it.

I MUST WARN YOU!!!!

It's easier than Japanese and Chinese; however, to be honest, it takes more than 30 minutes to get the hang of this alphabetic system.

ORIGIN

Once upon a time in Joseon dynasty, not everyone thought Chinese letters are just not good enough for us, and voilà!
The origin of Hangul has been made by the help of King Sejong.

You might think Hangul is Korean language.

No, no, think again.

Koreans already had their own language, but no system. Only high class people can read and write with Chinese letters because they think peasants don't deserve to write and read. So King Sejong hid it until his creation of 한글 was completed

How to read Hangul

Reading Hangul is much different than the English alphabet. However, the basic reading order still stays the same.

In hangul, every letter is written as a syllable, which then can be combined into a word block.

For example:
사랑
사 (sa) 랑 (rang): Love
지 (ji) 구 (gu): Earth

The next lesson is "Vowels and Consonants: How to Write and Pronounce".

Hope you guys didn't mind my weird writing style in this first chapter. I'm not very good at writing, so I really appreciate critisms.

I am going to post the first lesson tomorrow about the consonants and vowels. 기대해주세요
