*Gianna's pov

Gabby and I carried in all the boxes for her room, the paint, the stuff from the thrift shop and all her new bedroom stuff. She opened her door and looked around. "Ready?" I asked. She nodded eagerly and we pulled everything out of her room and opened all the windows. "First we have to put up all the tape so we don't make a mess. Adam will never let us paint again" I laughed. I put the tape around the ceiling after getting a ladder, damn these high ceilings, and Gabby put the tape around the windows. When we finished we put it around the baseboard together. "Perfect lets start!" I said. I laid the tarp over the rug and poured the paint. It was a light is shade of red, not too dark but perfect for a girls room. When it was finished we took a step back and admired our work. "Nice job" I said hugging her. "How long until it dries?" She asked. "Not until tomorrow at least" I said. She nodded and went to check on Adam in the baby's room. He was painting it mint green, my favorite neutral color. "Good job babe" I said. "I think we should've waited to find out and paint it gender specific but anything for you babe" he smirked and kissed me. "How's your room look?" He asked Gabby. "Really good!" She smiled. We helped Adam finish painting and we all got washed up. "Save these clothes for tomorrow so we can finish" I reminded her. She nodded, "where am I going to sleep?" She asked. "Well I thought that we could camp in the living room" Adam said. "We can make a fort and throw all the pillows and blankets on the floor" he said. She laughed, "yes!" I laughed with her and we went into the kitchen.

Wendy had big plates for pasta waiting for us. We sat down and ate and it really felt like we were a real family. This little girl we barely know stole our hearts so quickly. Adam's phone rang then. I recognized the ring, doom he likes to call it, and I knew it was Shawn. "Hey" he said. "I can't Shawn, I'm spending time with Gabby" he said. He looked upset and I could tell Gabby could feel his uneasiness. "Shawn I just found my daughter, I want my last day with her to be a perfect one tomorrow" he said. He seemed really upset, "fine, but you owe me. Big time Shawn, big time" he said and hung up. "Baby?" I asked concern filling my eyes. "I have to leave tomorrow afternoon" he said. "What happened?" I asked. "I don't know something about bad weather the next day and not wanting to risk it so we leave tomorrow to sit in a stupid hotel room all night and all the next day before setting up the stage and sound check for the concert the next day" he groaned. "So no Zoo?" Gabby asked. Adam stared a moment, "I heard you on the phone, you said we were going to the zoo tomorrow with Ryan" she said. "No sweetie, no zoo, at least not with me, but I'm sure Gianna will still take you" he said. "Yeah it'll be fun" I said. She shook her head, "no it's okay" she said and pushed away from her plate. I looked down and then up to see Adam following her. "Wait, let me" I said and kissed him. I walked into the living room and noticed the sliding glass window open. I looked out and saw her on a lounge chair by the pool. I grabbed a big blanket and went out shutting the glass.

I sat beside her, "Gabby?" I said softly. "What?" She asked sadly. "Talk to me what's wrong?" I asked. "I don't want to be a bother and it doesn't seem like Adam really wants me here so why would you? I just want my mom back" she said. I slipped the blanket around her shoulders, "both Adam and I want you here. Yes it was a little unexpected but we want you here. It's tough right now but trust me we both love you very much, and we'll do anything to keep you safe until your mom comes home" I said. Gabby bit her lip, "what if mom never comes home?" She asked. "Then you can stay with us or go back to your grandparents it's your call" I said. "My grandparents, they don't know!" She said. "Would you like to call them?" I asked. She bit her lip, "um, no" she said. "It's okay if you do really" I said. She shook her head, "no, they didn't want us to come out here. Mom argued with them before we left." She said. I hugged her, "then you don't have to. I won't, we won't, make you do anything you don't want to do." "Can we wait until we figure out what exactly is going to happen?" I smiled, "anything you want" I said. I looked back at the house, "we should go in, Adam looks worried" I said. Gabby nodded and got up wrapping the blanket tight around her. We walked in and Adam seemed to relax with our smiles. "Better?" He asked. I nodded, "all better" I said. "Can we still finish my room tomorrow? At least the paint part?" She asked. "Of course I can't wait to see what you have in mind!" I said excitedly. Gabby giggled, "Adam can we still make the fort?" She asked. "Heck yes! Who would think of passing up a good blanket fort?!" He asked laughing. He was such a kid at heart.
