My breaths are heavy and my legs ache from running for as long as I have been. It's about midday and I peak over my shoulder wondering if they're still on my tail. Adrenaline pulses through me like a new song and I bang on Eves door. I haven't seen her in years let alone stand at her front door. I pray that she's home and that our last quarrel can be brushed off our shoulders. I didn't expect the first time we'd be seeing one another after so long unfolding like this. It's been roughly six years and she's going to be very upset with me. I didn't intend on telling her about my trip but under these circumstances...I need somewhere to stay and somewhere people won't find me. I was thinking of maybe surprising her two days from now, after MW6 was supposed to be over and apologize for our fight but everything has gone awry.
I don't know how I am going to tell her these events that have played out but I do know she can help me. Keep me hidden. That's at least if she will even talk to me. I'm about to knock again on the door again when it whips open startling me. Her not-so-little sister Daisy stands before me and she wears a confused look realizing who I am. If I wasn't running from death, I'd give her a hug. But I push myself in as she is about to yell out for Eve. Something I can't have happening. So I cover her mouth quickly before she can get the words out and close the door in a swift motion. I lock it and let go of her. She steps away from me and I start catching my breath. Peering me down with her young eyes she asks "What are you doing here?" seeming both scared and annoyed with me. Her presence is strong and she holds her ground reminding me of Eve. Hearing familiar music escape down the hallway above the stairs, I lean into the wall and let out a deep sigh. Flashbacks of my first visit here flick through my mind. Daisy was only a child then but I guess we all were.
'I can't tell you why I'm here and I'm sorry for doing that to you but let me be the one to tell her I'm here. I've gotten myself into big trouble. She doesn't even know I'm here.'
"Are you okay?"
I laugh 'Not exactly but your sister might be able to change that...at least for tonight'
"She's In her room."
Already on route I navigate towards her bedroom. Once I get to her door I find myself suddenly frozen. My hand doesn't want to move. I take a minute trying to think of how I am going to come about entering. I force myself to keep going turning the handle, not wanting to give myself more time to overthink seeing her. I creep the door open. Slowly entering.
"What the fuck?"
She sits in front of her gaming screens and stays stationed in her seat and I can tell she's hesitant on making any moves so I hold my arms out.
'Eve-' Cutting me off she stands up, mirroring my stance and eyes me up which makes me lose my wording. Is she still mad at me? She runs into me almost knocking me over with a hug answering my question before she asks "Why didn't you tell me?"
'It's a long story'
She stays silent and we stand embraced for a few seconds. I close my eyes thinking of everything I'll be telling her. Her energy feels soothing and today's wounds slow their bleeding.
"Start talking"
