class was over; but not that jaemin ever went anyway.
the boy met up with shuhua, who had just finished studying with her university girlfriend during her free period. there was a private university five minutes away from this high school, and they granted those students permission to be able to enter the school's library for more access to books.
jaemin really treasured shuhua with his whole heart. they've known each other since the second grade. she's seen everything go down with his family, and she's seen him become the person he is now. of course shuhua doesn't like it, but she sticks with him through it all.
"how was class?" shuhua asked, sitting down with jaemin at their usual lunch table. "i didn't go." the boy shrugged, watching his best-friend give him a glare. shuhua shook her head, "jaemin..."
"i know i know, we've had this talk so many times already," the boy mumbled. "come on, my grades are still amazing though." jaemin, surprisingly, had pretty good grades for getting suspended and in trouble so often. teachers could argue with him all day, yet couldn't with his test scores.
"but your temper surely is not." shuhua responded, shaking her head. jaemin laughed, soon after feeling someone's eyes on him. the boy scanned his eyes along the cafeteria briefly, catching a certain someone just gazing at him again. jeno's eyes held a sense of hopelessness and longing, something that made jaemin want to look into them for longer.
yet all he gave him was a quick glance, before turning away.
there was no doubt in jaemin's mind that he found jeno attractive. who wouldn't, anyway? but right now, there wasn't any time for crushes or that high school 'love'. that stuff didn't exist, anyway.
a little while later, lunch period ended. jaemin said goodbye to shuhua and really had to go back to class now, under his best-friends rules. fortunately for him, this particular teacher was more laid back with the students and didn't bother jaemin as much. he guessed the only thing about him was that he had assigned seats, but that honestly wasn't a problem for jaemin anymore.
and that was, because his seat was right next to jeno's.
