Chapter one:

Meeting the human and Angel:

I sat at the cafeteria table reading a book, not really paying attention to the silly bantering between Cloe and Nicky. Cloe bared her fangs toward Nicky who was giggling about something she said that clearly upset the little vamp, "That's so mean" Cloe pouted crossing her arms over her chest, my ear twitched as I lowered the book to stare at the two of them. "No it wasn't," Nicky said smiling before continuing; "It is true though you suck at baking" I smiled at them before the cafeteria doors burst open and Sam strolled in with Lilly floating behind her and another student following them, looking around in amazement. My ears flattened above my head as my eyes narrowed slighlty as I watched the unknown person come towards our table. She was pretty, her long brown hair flared around her and ended at the middle of her back while her fairly blue eyes looked around in curiosity. "Hey ladies," Sam said with a small smile on his face as he watched me reaction, "This is Alex, she's new here, also the leader Xavier's human daughter" My ears lifted off my head and stood to attention as the words left Sam's mouth, I wasn't going to lie and become all positive on meeting Xavier's daughter much less the human one, since I don't trust people so well anyway. I'll keep my short distance for now, placing my book down on the table a small smile graced my lips, trying to be as friendly as possible. "Aunt Cristy asked us to be friend her and make her feel welcomed" Lilly said smiling brightly, she had no problems meeting new people in fact no one did in the group except for me that is. I just had major trust issues toward meeting new people and I wasn't all that butterfly social either, so I wasn't sure on how to express myself toward new people that well. As a matter of fact I always wonder how I became friends with Cloe, Nicky or even Lilly for that matter, Sam on the other hand was just always around. You could say he knew me better than most people and same goes for Cloe, I actually understood since she was dating my boyfriend's brother and since they were a mated couple, we got stuck together a lot. I shuffled uncomfortably in my seat as I watched Alex sit next to Cloe and make acquaintances with everyone else at the table and occasionally give me worried looks which clearly told me I was making it a but uncomfortable with all my staring, I was a little shocked when Alex turned to me and held out her delicate hand toward me, "Hey, you already know me due to Lilly's little introduction" she said, I narrowed my eyes toward her hand as my ears flattened against my head again. "Oh, sorry...Alex that's Minx she's isn't very social in the beginning or very open to people she doesn't really know" Nicky said with a innocent smile as she put a reassuring hand on Alex's shoulder. I quickly picked up my booked stuffing my nose right where I left off as everyone chatted on, Alex stared at me for another minute before Cloe questioned her onto why she came to Holtex high. Secretly paying attention to their conversation and trying to keep my mind on the book was difficult but I managed as the bell rang ending the morning break before real work started and start of a four minute race across campus to get to combat class. Everyone scattered leaving Nicky patiently waiting for Me to pack up. Running down the half filled halls of school we quickly made our way to the third staircase and turning left down the hall once again. "You so lucky this is a combat clads and not Math class" Nicky huffed out as we stopped outside the door in time as the 'Get to class bell' rang, laughing under my breath I entered the locker room to change.

I so wanted this day to end as my eyes slowly lowered as I listened to Mrs. Hooper talk about Neko history, though it was my top passing grade, I slept half the time and got smacked with something that Mrs. Hooper had thrown across the room to wake me up only to have me return to the state fifteen minutes later. She soon learnt to not try keep me awake, since last time didn't end up so pretty. I woke to Nicky shaking me, "Sorry, Mrs. Hooper caught me in the hall and asked me to come wake you" she spoke giving me a soft smile, I returned the smile and gathered my belongings and walking out the classroom. Cloe greeting us at my locker with Alex by her side, I nodded my head and watched as Alex stared toward my slick black tail that wagged around slightly. "So, I have Science and Vamp history after lunch what about you girls?" Cloe said frowning down at her schedule, "I have Human history and combat skills" Nicky smiled sweetly, I sighed and dug through my bag looking for my schedule. "Oh I have gym then supernatural class" Alex said looking down at her feet, I ripped my schedule out and handed it to Nicky who looked through it. "That is so not fair!" She explained before handing it over so Cloe and Alex could see. "You lucky bitch!" Explained Cloe and Alex frowned as she looked at my schedule. "You have one lesson left" Cloe explained handing back my schedule causing me to look at it. "Oh...Art" I shrugged my shoulders and walked toward the cafeteria. Lunch dragged on slowly, we found a seat near the open window plan that gave you a beautiful view of the rose garden. Nicky and Alex chatted about who knows what and Cloe excused herself to go grab some lunch. I sat and read my book from before. Most people never really bothered our tiny group of friends, but you'd get the brave people. "That is a good book, want to know how it ends?" A muscular voice spoke to the left of me, I sniffed the scent of the stranger to realize a young angel was sitting in the third seat next to me and that the tables around us have stopped the daily chatter to watch us. Alex sat confused while Nicky looked kind of scared for the guy's sake. My ears flattened against my head while my tail coiled around my waist as I carried on reading hoping the guy would leave. Cloe soon returned with a tray filled with food and she eyed the Angel before putting a smile on her face, "Well hello, what made you come to our table?" She asked sitting down next to Nicky. "Oh...I uh...my name's Bradd and I...well..just recently got here" He stuttered clearly uncomfortable by all the stares, I looked over at him. He was pretty hot but all angels were known to be Greek Gods in looks. He had short black hair and clear ocean blue eyes that shine out over his olive tone skin, he was pretty built and was probably in the Angel Ball team. Sam and Lilly soon joined the table looking around before their eyes landed on Bradd. Sam shuffled and plopped down in the seat between Bradd and I, silently thanking him for intervening in this awkward situation. I hissed softly toward Bradd who was glaring at Sam who placed his feet on the table and relaxed in his seat. Lilly giggled at the action before fluttering her eyes at Bradd, "You never answered me, Bradd" Cloe said munching on some popcorn as if she was seeing the best play in the world play out in front of her for free. Alex shuffled uncomfortably in her seat as Nicky glared toward Bradd. "Oh...I...uh..well..." Bradd looked lost at words as I raised a eyebrow waiting for the answer. Everyone new at the school or not always got hints from anybody to stay away from me, and that basically only exclusive people were lucky enough to get to know me. The young Angel's shoulders dropped and he looked defeated, "Sorry...I thought my Uncle said it would be easier to fit in if I got to know Minx" I frowned as the words left his lips, How the heck did his Uncle know me?

Hold up...is it who I think it might be???

Everyone sat with confused and frustrated expressions on their faces as we stared at Bradd for answers, "Oh right...well I'll get going" He said getting up from his seat, i quickly jumped across Sam and grabbed hold of Bradd's arm. "Who is your Uncle?" I asked softly in a hoarse tone, knowing its due to not using my voice so much. Bradd gave me a small smile and sat down again, "Well i have three Uncle's, uh...Gabriel, Nathaniel and Derrick" as soon as those words left his lips my ears perked and I suddenly got a butterfly feeling in the pit of my stomach. I sat back in my seat soon realising what I had done when I turned toward my friends who had shocked expressions. Blushing I looked at the cover of the book as my ears flattened once again.
