"Hey, Mom?"

"Yeah?"

"Can... Mars come over tonight?"

Mom looked over at me with a bit of surprise.

"You... want him to come over?"

"Well, I don't have friend anymore and he kind of made me feel a little guilty for not treating him like one so..."

"Well, I don't see the harm in it if you're going to be okay with it..."

I nodded and got out my phone to text Mars that it was okay for him to come on over. When I pressed it on, I saw there were a bunch of texts from Zylith but I ignored them to go look for Mars' number. As I went to find the message tab, another text came through but it was a number that I didn't recognize. I clicked the message.

Hey, Max, this is Kole. Sorry I haven't reached out to you since you got back, but things have been hard with your predicament and how everyone is treating you. Mars told me you were doing a little better so I thought I would bring some homework to you and catch up...

I made a face and thought for a second. I haven't seen Kole in months and now all of a sudden he wants to try and hang out with me? I type back slowly.

I found Mars' message stack and texted him that he could go ahead and head over to my house unless he wanted my mom to swing by his house and pick him up. He said he would be fine and I sighed when I felt my phone go off and I saw it was another text from Zylith. I sighed and looked at it.

DON'T TRUST HIM!

Huh? I thought and then I went back and looked at all the other texts she had sent me since we had left the store.

Hey, I just wanted to say it was good to see you today. I'm glad you're doing alright with the baby being so big and such. Hope you have a good night.

Max, I just heard from Asana that Dawaen has been spreading rumors about you as school with the help of your former friend. I don't know his name but please be careful.

Max, has that other friend contacted you?

Max, say something!

Okay, I know you're probably ignoring me because of the thing that happened in the ailse but this is SERIOUS, Max.

I guess you're busy, but the last I heard was that your friend was going to try and get you to trust him and then expose you to the school. If he calls or texts, don't let him come over.

I frowned and decided to just call Zylith because the texting thing was getting a little overwhelming as well as confusing...

"Hello?"

"Hey."

"Oh, great, you got my texts then?" she said with a smile.

"How could I not get them? You practically blew up my phone. They don't really make a lot of sense though."

"How can they not make sense? They seemed pretty straight forward to me."

"Yeah, but who are you even talking about?"

"One of your former friends from before you got abducted. I personally don't know who."
