It grew slightly colder as time passed, making Ooka shiver, despite wearing a peacoat. Atsushi noticed, "Are you cold, Ooka-san?" He moved to take off his coat, however the senior detective waved her hand to refuse.
"I don't want you getting sick. Leave it on, I'm fine," She tutted.
"But you look like you're freezing over there."
"I'm just a bit sensitive to the cold, alright. I have Emil so don't worry about me." That being said, Ooka proceeded to grab her dog off the ground and placed him inside her coat. "See. I have it all figured out," She said, snuggling the lower half of her face on Emil's head.
He sweatdropped at her actions, "Well it you're still feeling cold, I'll lend you my coat."
"My, my, such a gentleman," Ooka smiled. In response, Atsushi looked away and blushed.
"You two are being gross," Shiki said, guiding the group to his house.
"Shiki-san! You're still here?" Ooka gasped, "I forgot about you."
"I've been walking in front of you for the past half hour!"
"Your presence was just lacking so I didn't notice you were still here."
"You're still working on my case!"
"I was just on a relaxing walk across the city."
"You- "
"Better watch your words. That is unless you want a spear thrown at your head~" Ooka said gleefully. Shiki growled and mumbled to himself as Atsushi sweatdropped, "What strange people... "
"Shouldn't we be worried about those thugs following us? They'll know I have someone helping me," The client inquired.
"If someone was following us, I would know. Even if they attack, it wouldn't be a problem. I'm not worried," Ooka shrugged.
"Right. You're crazy strong."
"I've actually seen stronger. My brother has a wonderful ability and a specialist in martial arts so it really expands his physical capabilities. Believe it or not, he's much more aggressive than me."
"You have a brother?" Both males asked.
"Yeah. He's overseas right now." The two boys imagined a male Ooka rampaging across the city and gulped, paling at the thought. Ooka stood there, confused at the silence and the worried glances they gave her. Shiki coughed and quickly got over the thought, "Well my house is right around the corner. It's still a mess but whatever."
"How shameless. Come on Atsushi," Ooka led her partner towards the house and opened the door easily.
"Did you just break my doorknob!?"
"No, it's busted open, dumbass. They came in through the front door. Idiotic, really." She let them in first then shuffled inside. Closing the door as best as she can, she let Emil out of her coat and knelt down, "Alright Emil. I need you to stand watch. Nobody's supposed to know we're here yet so come find me if someone tries to come in."
Emil barked in response and stood by the door, on guard. Ooka smiled and stroked his head, "Good boy." She stood up and turned to Atsushi. "The intruders might've left something behind so go with Shiki-san and check all of the rooms. I'll check over all entry points to make sure that they only used the front door. Don't need them getting in and surprising us."
Atsushi quickly nodded and rushed off to Shiki's side. "And tell him to turn on the heater. It's freezing in here."
Sighing, she checked the nearby windows and made sure they were untouched and locked. She went up the stairs and walked down the hall, possessions thrown about every inch of the house. "Geez, they really trashed this place. Completely unnecessary."
