How to heal a broken heart?

The Talk

When Thea finally arrived at home she was more excited than ever. The bus picking her up from Camp Rosevelt would be at the station in four hours. Until then she needed to pack her suitcase, ask her mother for the promised money and drive to the supermarket to get new t-shirts for soccer.

4 hours before departure

"Okay, T, relax, you have four hours, that's so much time...", she thought

When suddenly her mother entered the room without permission. She started searching Thea's things for something, but Thea didn't know  what the hell she was looking for. When Barbara finally looked as if she was finished with searching. Thea asked blustery:

"What the hell, mom?! What are you doing here? Now I need to fold everything again. And you can help me!"

"Ehm, no honey, I can't. I need to go to the grocery store, there's just something I forgot to buy...", as fast as she told her that she was gone and Thea couldn't say anything about it

So she followed her TO-PACK list and searched for the things that were missing. There was her favorite soccer ball, but she couldn't find it anywhere when she finally looked into her closet next to her rain coat. then she saw the pitch black ball, that was looking like a cannonball.              She took it in her hands and gave it a little kiss before putting it into her suitcase.. Now she needed a couple briefs and bra's and the suitcase was ready for the trip.

After finishing the packing she went down to the living room to ask her mother for the money but her mom wasn't there, so she sat down and watched a movie. 30 minutes went over and there almost wasn't any time left for going to the shop. But Thea convinced herself that she would also find a shaver on campground and she just went on with watching her favorite movie. Dirty Dancing with the gorgeous Jennifer Gray and amazingly hot and cute Patrick Swayze.

2 hours and 30 minutes before departure

The doorknob started to jolt as Thea's mother burst in.

"Theaaaaaaa, where are you? I need to talk to you...! oh no she's already gone. now I couldn't even say goodbye. And I bought these for nothing." her voice got more quite and quite

"Mom, I'm still he- what are those for??! Or better question: Did you buy them for yourself? Ugh gross, Mom. Why didn't you tell me you had a new boyfriend? Wait is it mailman George?"

" Oh Thea my darling, you're still here. I need to talk to you abou- wait how did you now about George and me? "

" Mom, I know you and I notice how you look at him and he also finds you very attractive. And don't ask me why I  know this. His son Max told me that he's talking about you all the time and he's happy that you live a couple streets next to him so he can see you everyday"

" Yes, but honey, I thought since you haven't taken any boy home and you are 18 now I just supposed you didn't know or you were to shy to talk about it"

" Oh yes, Mom, because you are so open to this topic, so the only thing you talk about is how sexy you are and how all the guys want to sleep with you... I don't know how you could change like that. When dad was around you wasn't like that!"

" I'm sorry, Thea, that I just wanted to help you so you would finally find a boy that likes you and the thing with your dad. You know that loved Jonas so, so much and that I needed a year to get over his car accident, so don't ever dare to compare you with me and my relationship to your Dad!"

" Okay Mom, I don't want to separate from you like this. I know that mentioning Dad wasn't right, but please try to understand me... please"

"You are right, but please just take the condoms, so I know you're safe, because I don't think that you can buy condoms in the woods..."

" I'll take them, but be sure that I won't be using them!"

"You think...", whispered her mother while Thea was going up to take her suitcase to the living room, but Barbara knew exactly what always happened in summer camps. anyways she didn't mention her knowledge to Thea when she was back with her luggage.
