Vision

White. Blinding, pure, untouched white. It was rough yet smooth at the same time, almost feeling like a dream, yet somehow still inside of reality. Where was I? Who was I? That doesn't matter. The beautiful plainness of it all was terrifying and soothing at the same time, making my thoughts fuzz around and blend together.

As my senses detangled I could make out a fresh gust of wind, blowing swiftly through my mouth and lungs, and rattling the leaves on the moist soil underneath me. It smelt of beautiful autumn days, crisp leaves and steaming hot coffee. The smell was sharp and sweet, almost offending my nose with the exotic arrangement of how it all pieced together into a complicated puzzle.

The wind continued to shake the branches of skeletal and dry trees, making their red and brown leaves perform an elegant dance in the cold Breeze, twirling their way throughout each other before descending to the floor. I could hear the branches scratch and struggle with each other, creating loud shuffling noises, each competing with each other over an unknown argument of the cold wind.

I felt cool droplets of water being poured onto my skin from the sky, creating pattering noises as they hopped and jumped in between rocks and dirt. There were already big puddles forming in the beige paths as raindrops continued to pelter inside and around the minuscule bodies of water, forming tiny sprays of water high into the air.

I continued walking down the unknown pathway, the only thing beside me being my shadow. The air was getting thicker and wetter when suddenly time slowed to a halt, and all the beautiful colors started swinging into each other.

At first, it was just springing from place to place, messy yet organized. Soon after, they started blending together into a thick grey sludge, diminishing each and every ounce of beauty inside this memory. The blurred outlines of things blended even further and turned everything into a shimmering white, almost blinding my eyes.

I felt lonely, yet I could tell I wasn't alone. Everything was so boringly white, yet so excitingly bright and blinding at the same time. I opened my eyes and looked into the exceedingly dim darkness that took hold of my vision. I closed my eyes, then opened them.
Darkness and that will never change.
