Chapter 52
Vihaan's anger shot up the moment he heard of Sanchi leaving for the bureau all by herself. When Virendra declared that he had permitted her, Vihaan couldn't help but yell at his own father. "You have always been a responsible cop, dad. How can you allow her? How can you be so careless? You know what all I have been doing for her welfare."
"Ask that to yourself, Vihaan. Were you really doing something for her welfare or were you trying to impose your possessiveness on her?" Virendra asked, crossing his arms across his chest.
"This is not the answer to my question, dad. I didn't try to impose anything on her." Vihaan argued, rubbing the back of his neck in nervousness.
"You did, you tried to force all sorts of restrictions upon her and made her feel suffocated to a greater extent. The poor girl feels like a caged bird under your strict rules and regulations."
"Please dad, stop chiding me for the time being. Just tell me when did she leave? I need to reach her as soon as possible. She might not be able to handle herself." Vihaan shook his head.
"Don't be overdramatic, Vihaan. I am seriously saying it." Virendra raised his voice. "You had promised me not to make her cry at all."
"I didn't break it, dad."
"You did otherwise why would she be crying to herself while strolling along the balcony in the morning? When I asked her, she expressed her discomfort about staying under your supervision. She also added how she is displeased with all your stupid behaviour. She was completely fine but yet you continued to keep her confined in the room. So I permitted her to visit the bureau because she urged for it. She needs open air." Virendra added, totally unhappy with his son.
"It was all because of her health. I was much scared after whatever mom had faced in so many months. But believe me dad, I was supposed to free her of everything yesterday if she hadn't..." Vihaan trailed off the moment he saw the growing intensity in his father's eyes.
"If you really want to see someone happy in your life, you have to set it free like a bird in the sky instead of caging it. But you did completely the opposite and she is totally pissed at you." Virendra warned him.
"I will set everything alright, dad. Don't worry now." Vihaan managed to utter before disappearing into his own room. He had self-determined himself to mend all his rough ways with Sanchi and begin a new journey of life with her.
Taking a quick shower and dressing up in his formal outfit, Vihaan had his breakfast at home for the first time in so many months. Though he was in a hurry to go out looking for Sanchi but he couldn't upset Durga again. After taking the blessings of his mother, he rushed out of the house as soon as possible.
Parking his motorbike at the CBI garage, Vihaan reached the floor of his department. Although the entire staff greeted him, his passionate eyes were searching for only Sanchi. He checked her cabin but she wasn't there. After a vigorous search for almost ten minutes, he called for the attendance registrar.
"Have you seen Sanchi? She was here early in the morning," Vihaan asked, losing his patience.
The registrar nodded his head. "Yes Sir, she was here half an hour ago."
"Where is she now? Didn't she join her duty? I know she is a private analyst and does work according to my father's permission. The government has no say in her job profile because she isn't a direct employee. She can join or take leave anytime she wants," Vihaan said casually, his eyes still looking around.
"I am sorry to say Sir, but Sanchi was here to submit her resignation letter. I have forwarded it to the head office upon her insistence." The registrar disclosed the truth, leaving Vihaan completely in shock and confusion.
