Apocalypse AU

Mafu"You put your left hand here, and your right hand here. And then you place your cheek right over here.."
I leaned in until my face touched the smooth cold surface of the weapon and immediately closed my left eye as my right eye was behind the scope.
"Good," A hand then reaches out to point what's in front of me. "You see those color-coded targets right there? I want you to try shooting at least into the yellow zone."
I nodded before he placed his hand on my shoulder. "Be careful. The kickback on this rifle is quite strong. Breathe in.."
I inhaled deeply and zoned in on the spot where I wanted to fire at, and pulled the trigger. After only one shot, the recoil was strong enough to almost send me flying back if it weren't for Soraru-san's hold on me.
"I got you. Keep going."
I nodded once more before going back into the zone. I planted my weight firmly into the ground this time and breathed in before shooting twice. It made me rock backwards each time, but finally looking away from the scope and seeing the target I've shot, I've gotten at least 2/3 this time.
"Not bad," Soraru-san patted my shoulder. "A bigger improvement than when you just got here."
I smiled at him before he helped me up to my feet. I dust off the dirt on my pants and shoulders before going back down to the base along with him.
It had been two weeks since I found this place, two weeks since I've been reunited with Amatsuki. I'm still not used to waking up in warm blankets and the smell of something cooking in the air, but I wouldn't want to change anything I have right now.
Speaking of Amatsuki, "Mafu-kun! Aren't you up early?"
"Morning, Ama-chan!" I laughed at his hyper self. He began to look from me to the slightly taller male beside me and then back to me again.
"Hmm~? What's this~?" He teasingly says, covering his mouth in a way that maidens do when something scandalous happens. "A very early training session with the Soraru-san~? Even the usual Soraru-san won't get up for anything early no matter how important it is!"
The blue-haired male sighed beside me. I thought his cheeks seemed red, but he turned too quickly for me to be sure. "Shut up, Amatsuki." Is what left his mouth, but I can see that the tips of his ears are red.
The brunet decided to stop bullying him yet let the smile stay on his face. "Checked the area like usual? Not too many lurkers, and no intruders or anything?"
"Nope! The area was practically clear today." I replied. "Has Kashitarou-san been doing sweepings recently? This is the third time so far."
This suddenly made Amatsuki feel somewhat worried as his facial expression changed. "No, actually. He only does sweeping once a week."
I began to feel uneasy. I've been feeling off ever since they've removed the tracking chip from my cheek, and my gut feeling is usually right. Amatsuki seemed to have noticed the shift in my mood as he began to calm me down "Ah, don't think about it too much! I'll go ahead and ask him after we all eat breakfast. How was training?"
"He didn't drop the gun this time." A teasing voice suddenly returned to the conversation.
"Soraru-san!" I huffed at him. "That was only one time!"
"Two times, actually." He grinned. "On your first day."
It pulled out a big chuckle from Amatsuki. "Ama-chan, don't laugh at me!!"
