|Twenty Eight|

"Yooni-chan..?"

I was frozen still, eyes wide as I stared at that familiar face that I hadn't seen in so long.

Ye-Jin...

But the worst of it.

Was his father.

Who stood right beside him.

Everything around me, the constant noise of the normal world, the sounds of the wind and the trees and the cars and the voices  - all of that, faded away.

All I could hear was my heart beat thumping heavily in my chest.

Ye-Jin's father spoke, a sudden panic arising as he stepped towards me as if he couldn't believe his eyes. I had been missing for so long, and suddenly here I was, safe and unharmed.

He reached out to grab me, but I jumped back out of his reach. Akumu eyed me confused as he saw the horror in my eyes.

Ye-Jin started screaming at me. Why..? Tears were streaming down his face. I couldn't talk. Couldn't speak as his father made another grab at me.

I dodged, but then he quickly grabbed two fistfuls of my shirt and pulled me out of the door way.

I felt Akumu grab my arm. There was more screaming, yelling, shouting, my name being called out...

But I could hear nothing.

But I was forcefully pulled down the front stairs, and as I turned to see Akumu, and his eyes tearing as he reached out towards me with a pained expression.

He was taking me away. Away from Do-Yoon, Min-Hyo, Eonni...

Eonni...Jang Ah Rin...

No. No. I couldn't leave. I couldn't go back to school. I couldn't live that life again. I couldn't...

My whole vision flashed red. Something surfaced inside of me that I hadn't felt before.

Let go of me..

I screamed, latching my teeth onto his arm which held me. My teeth dug so deeply into his arm. Blood gushed. His mouth opened in a cry as he released me from his grip.

Still silence. Now a ringing began in my ears.

As I was dropped, I glimpsed Ye-Jin, staring at me with wide and confused eyes as I darted away from them, back inside to the house.

His father pursued me.

I couldn't hear him call my name. The ringing was thick, loud, my heart beat ferocious as it slammed itself against my rib cage. I couldn't hear Akumu as he screamed at me in confusion.

His father grabbed my elbow, yanking my backwards towards him. I used that momentum against him as I rammed my other, boney elbow into his gut.

He cried out as he released his grip from me.

I bolted into the kitchen, slamming into the sink as I came to a stop, eyes wide as I felt my heart beating in my throat. The ringing continued. I couldn't hear, couldn't even see properly as my vision started to blur.

He came at me. He was going to take me to the police station. Behind him was Ye-Jin, still screaming, Akumu, silent and in tears as he covered his mouth with one hand...

No..no..no...

He grabbed my wrist.

I snapped.

I grabbed the closest thing, wrapping my boney fingers tightly around its handle. And I swung it at him with an almighty scream that I could barely hear.
