|Thirty Four|
Everything hurt immensely. I groaned and sat myself up just as someone slapped their hand over my mouth to keep me quiet.
That jolted me awake, at first confused and panicked until I saw who's hand.
We were in a sort of store room nook, the room bathed in darkness. It was quite cramped so she hovered over my body in a straddle position, my cheeks flushing at how close she was. But as I looked at her closer... She was...fine.
No. That couldn't be right. She had been shot...I had seen it...I remembered it..and the bullet hole was still in her shirt.
"A-Ah Rin...?" I murmured against her hand.
She slowly turned her head towards me, leaning closer as she gave me a look to be quiet. I couldn't believe it...she looked absolutely fine.
Impossible.
"H-how..?" I murmured. "You...were shot..."
She pulled down the collar of her shirt slightly, revealing the thick amount of blood stained pads and bandages just near the top of her chest.
How...
"It missed any vital organs" she said softly. "And I have a high pain tolerance. I'm fine."
No...there had been so much blood...
"You're lying to me" I whispered, making her muscles stiffen. "Rin.."
"Quiet" she snapped, gritted her teeth.
I didn't understand what she could possibly be lying about, but I could tell she was leaving something out. But what? What could it possibly be..?
"Eu" she then said softly, closing her eyes. "We need to go. And you need to be quiet."
I bit my lip, doing as she said. The chains and shackles had been removed from my wrists, giving me a sense of freedom that I loved. I took a deep breath in...
Suddenly Ah Rin jumped up, grabbing my hand and opening the door to the store room, turning down a hall and running through it.
I gritted my teeth as every movement hurt, trying not to whimper or cry out. But Ah Rin didn't slow down at all, keeping an ear out for anyone around. But the place seemed to look un-habited...abandoned.
But I knew who were here.
Ah Rin was murmuring something softly to herself. But I couldn't understand. But it was the same thing over, and over, and over again. It didn't make sense. What was she saying...?
We stopped abruptly as we made it to a cross roads in the hallways. A sign on one of the walls pointed down the hall, with 'West Wing' printed on it in bold white lettering.
"West wing" she whispered.
That's what she had been whispering...
She turned down it sharply, pulling me along. Where were we going?
Ah Rins grip slid off of me, and I almost fell forward as she suddenly sped off down the hall at top speed, pulling out a machete from her sheathe.
I suddenly realised there was a guard walking past the end of the hall.
But as soon as I noticed him, the machete had been stabbed through the gap between his helmet and padded clothing, right into his neck, and he was on the ground.
Dead.
"Come" she spat at me with a gesture as she stood at the end of the hall.
I gulped before I quickly half ran half limped towards her.
