Ellie's POV

I woke up to the sounds of my parents screaming. I looked at the time on my phone and groaned. It's the third time the summer that they have woken me up with their fighting. It was near the end of summer and 12th grade of high school was about to start. I was actually happy. I heard a notification from my phone. It was Eric. My crush. I smiled and looked at the text. 'Hey. How are you. I hope you are okay. Text me? Something? I miss you.' I realized that I told him that I don't know if I could make it through the summer. I stared at the text before texting him back. 'Eric. I am fine. I'm up. My parents are fighting again. I miss you too. Please help me. Anything. I been starved for the week. I want to be with you.' I saw Eric text me back. 'Meet me at the park. East Oak park.' I got up and grabbed the hoodie he gave me. It still smelled like him. I put pants on and grabbed my keys with my juul. "Mom! Dad! I am going to the park" I shouted

"Okay" Her mom shouted. "SAMUEL!"

I ran to the park. I fell on the way. My knee was bleeding making a blood stain in my jeans. I saw Eric. I ran or more likely limped to him. I collapsed on him. "Eric?" I asked looking at him. I forgot that I shaved the sides of head and dyed my hair. "Oh my god" Eric looked at me and smiled.

Eric's POV

I remember Ellie told me that she won't be able to survive over the summer. I love her. More than a friend. I know what troubles she has. I was still up because I won't go to sleep until I know she is alive. I been up since 12 in the morning. I woke up around 12 so I stayed up. I grabbed my phone and texted her. 'Hey. How are you. I hope you are okay. Text me? Something? I miss you' I stared at my phone and saw her text back, or at least I think it was her. I saw the text she sent. 'Eric. I am fine. I'm up. My parents are fighting again. I miss you too. Please help me. Anything. I been staved for a week. I want to be with you' I was smiling and then got mad. I ran downstairs and grabbed food. My mom was up drinking coffee. "Eric? Why on earth are you up?"

"It's Ellie." I said. She knew who Ellie was and nodded. I grabbed a lot of food and shoved it in the bag. I ran out and then realized that I forgot to text her back. I texted her back saying, 'Meet me at the park. East Oak park' I walked there. I stood there. I saw someone run toward me. I realized it was Ellie the moment she was in the street light. I saw her limping. I immediately thought her parents hurt her. She fell on me and I held her. She looked at me saying "Eric?" She was out of breath. "Oh my god"

Ellie's POV

I held onto him. I felt safe. I looked at him. "What the hell did your parents do?" He asked looking at me. I looked down at my knee.

"I fell on the way here. I miss you" I said. I started to cry. He held me, rubbed my back before handing me a honey bun. One of my favorite foods. I looked up at him with tears in my eyes. "I love you Eric."

"I love you too." He said back to me. He brought me over to a bench and I curled up with him, eating. He watched me and ran his hand through the hair I had. I felt safe for once. I saw him looking at me. I smiled up at him before sitting on his lap, facing him. I grabbed his face and kissed him.
