Every day, I can see the scene all over again. I don't want to remember, but I do. It's everywhere, in my dreams, before going to sleep and wherever I go. It keeps replaying, every second, every minute, every hour...
Those last three seconds of his life felt like an eternity. Everything slowed down to a crawl as my heart pounded harder and harder in my chest. I didn't know what to do. He had told me to run, but my legs were shaking, my entire body trembling with minute shivers. Unable to move, I watched second by second, as Blake's heart, getting ripped out in a single movement, dropped on the ground, dripping with blood. I tried to scream for help, before realizing that not a single sound could get out. What could I have done?
As I stared at Blake, I noticed his shocked eyes as he held his last breath.
"I love you," he gasped out, before falling to the floor. Those were the last words he ever spoke. I turned to see the killer's face. All I can remember is pale fingers covered in blood, face stained with blood, dark brown hair matted with blood. Blood, blood, blood everywhere. And then those eyes. Dark, red eyes that looked deep into mine with hatred. Suddenly, he disappeared. It could only mean one thing. Vampire.
If only I had the power to protect Blake, if only there was something I could have done, to save him...
I wanted to change things, I had to.
For Blake's sake.
But at that time, I didn't know anything.
