Chapter 44 ● You're in my mind ○

"How are we gonna find him if some invisible creature took him?" Michael questions them. "We don't even know what the creature is" Ashton points out. "Or what it looks like" Luke adds to what Ashton pointed out. "Calum sort of described it to me" Daphne replies to them. "Do you recognise what it could be?" Michael asks her. "Nope, never seen anything like it in my life" she replies.

"Put me down!" Calum screams but it's muffled as the creature has him in its closed fist. The creature stomps all the way to Darren's house. It bangs on the door with it's empty hand. Darren opens the door. The creature then puts Calum down on his doorstep and he quickly pulls him in. "Why are you wearing a mask?" Calum questions him. "You know why" he answers. "Oh okay, What is that thing that brought me here?" He asks him. "That's my imaginary friend" he replies. "You still have an imaginary friend?" He asks him. "Yes, he was my only companion when I was locked in that room when I was a child, we were really close and still are" he replies. "Okay, how is it that I saw him if he was your imaginary friend?" he replies and asks a question. "You wouldn't believe this but I stuck your consciousness into my mind this time and all I had to do was think of that whole scenario" he replies. "I don't believe that" he replies back. "It's different from having you stuck in your own mind with my thoughts, isnt it?" He asks. "It is" he replies. "I have more control over you here" he tells him. "You can't make me do anything you want me to" he replies. "Of course I can pup this is my mind" he replies back.

"Any clue what place this creature could have taken him to?" Ashton questions Daphne. "I'm not sure at all" she replies. "Can't you like do a locator spell or something to find him?" Luke asks her. "That's a good idea" she replies. "I know" he replies back. "Let's go to my house so I could work on it" she tells them. "Sure" Michael replies to her. The three of them then follow her towards her house.

"That doesn't mean I don't have control over my actions" Calum tells him. "It does, you can barely think much for yourself here" he replies to him. "So, how am I thinking about what I want to say to you?" He questions. "That's cause I'm letting you think for yourself right now" he answers him. "Is that so?" He asks. "I'll prove it to you that you have no control of yourself in here, like I could make you willing lock yourself in that" he replies gesturing to the cage he had him in when he was trapped in his own mind.

They finally reach Daphne's house. The three of them seat themselves down on the couch in her living room. Meanwhile she gathers the ingredients she needs to do the spell. She then returns to the living room to the others. She places the ingredients on the table in front of them.

"I'd never willingly lock myself in that cage" Calum tells Darren. "I know you wouldn't but in my mind you would" he replies to him. He then thinks about Calum locking himself in the cage. He walks towards the cage. He's now freaking out as he now knows that Darren was right and he has no control over himself in here. "Please stop, don't make me lock myself in there, you've proved your point" he pleads his voice shaking a bit from freaking out. "Sorry pup, that's not happening" he replies. He then reaches the cage gets in and locks himself in.

"Do any of you wanna help me with the spell?" She asks them. "I'll help" Michael replies to her. "Sure, anyone else?" She asks. "Nah, I'm good" Luke replies to her. "Same here, I'll rather just watch" Ashton replies to her. "Okay that's fine, I'll give you instructions for what you need to do" she replies to Luke and Ashton first then she turns to Michael for the rest of her reply. "Alright" Michael replies to her. "First you lay out the map" she instructs him. He takes the rolled up map and unrolls it on the table careful not to knock the rest of the ingredients off the table. "Okay good job, now pass me the blood" she compliments and gives him another instruction as she gently straightens it out a bit more. "Is that Calum's blood?" Luke asks her. "It is" she replies to him. Michael then passes her the little jar of blood. "Thank you" she replies to him. "No problem" he replies back to her. She spills the blood on the centre of the map chanting the spell and the blood then slowly moves to the location Calum is at. It finally reaches a spot on the map. "He's still in the forest according to this" she tells them. "Let's go then" Ashton replies to her. All of them then go back to Calum's house except Daphne. After a few minutes Daphne goes to Calum's house too so that they can find Calum.

Darren watches as Calum tries picking the lock trying to escape from the cage. "Too scared to try breaking the bars, aren't you?" He asks him. "Nope, I'm just being cautious since last time you put something on them" he replies. "It's not gonna be that easy to break the lock" he replies back. "It's worth trying" he responds back. "Yeah it is" he replies. He then makes his head hurt again. "Ouch! Please stop that" he requests him. "Aw poor pup, sorry no can do" he replies making his head hurt worse. He stops trying to break the lock and holds his hands to his head it's that bad. "What do you get out of doing this to me?" He asks him. "I like watching people's pain" he replies to him. "You're such a weirdo" he replies back. "I know" he responds he now makes the pain in his head unbearable and he can no longer take it so he passes out. "Sweet dreams" he tells him.

Daphne, Luke, Michael and Ashton then make their way back out to the forest to where the map led them. They see Calum unconscious on the ground of the forest.  "Is he okay?" Ashton asks them. "I don't know" Luke replies. "Let's try waking him" Daphne suggests. Michael then walks up to Calum and gently shakes him by the shoulders. "Calum! Wake up!" Luke shouts as he walked towards him. Ashton tickles his feet and after all they've tried he still doesn't wake up. "He's not waking up!" Michael replies his voice panicked. "Don't worry, he's not dead but his consciousness doesn't seem to be with his body" she replies to them. "I don't get what you mean by that" Luke replies to her. "What I'm trying to say is, that Darren misplaced his consciousness and put it somewhere else, in which I'm guessing is in his own mind" she explains.

Calum wakes up in the cage. He then sits up as he does this he bangs his head against the bars. "Ouch! What did you do to me?" He asks Darren. "Not much yet I just made your head hurt" he replies to him. "Did you get into my friend's heads?" He questions him. "No, I just wanted you to think that I did" he answers to him. "Why?" He asks. "Because it would make you more vulnerable" he replies. "Oh okay" he replies back. "Why are you always making me get into this cage?" He questions him. "Because it's difficult for you to escape it and you're a bad puppy" he answers him. "I'm not a puppy!" he shouts as a reply to his answer.

"How do we get his consciousness back to his body from Darren's mind?" Ashton asks Daphne. "We can't, only Darren can" she replies to him. "Can we go find Darren and convince him to put Calum's consciousness back in his body?" Michael questions her. "We could try but I'm not sure Darren will give in" she answers him. "Wait, if Calum was trapped in Darren's mind all this time how did we see him before the monster kidnapped him?" Luke asks the question everyone was curious about but was afraid to ask. "I have no idea, he's got new tactics now, we'll have to figure it out" she answers his question.
