How many years has it been now? 20? yea might be that long already I barely think back to these days, to be honest, I just wanna Forget what happened, but I can't how could i... My name is Ray I've been a Free Lancer on the Moon 20 years ago it was just an "easy job" and we got paid a lot of money... Thinking back to it I should have been suspicious why an easy Job would pay out so much and should have declined. I was foolish and young I couldn't have known it any better and the same goes for all the greedy fools who also accepted the job offer.
we had the year 2016 Some dude with a designer Suit came up to me and told me about this amazing Job on the Moon and how the government needed a few Freelancers for Mining etc. to look out for vulnerable Minerals or just anything else it sounded pretty simple to me and I needed the money so I accepted, Later on I would regret this decision for the rest of my life...
The preparations took around a month I got a call from some Lady they told me where I should meet up for the flight to the Moon.
I have never in my life seen so many people wishing me luck and cheering me on I felt great, to be honest.
arrived at the Moon I got introduced to the other Freelancers who accepted this offer it didn't take long and I made a Friend Ramirez, Ramirez... I often think back to remember him he was a great Friend I was Lucky having such a person to my side during this Journey.
They hold us in the Station for almost a week until we get used to the whole Space thing and I don't know what else it didn't really matter to me, in my opinion, we could have stayed forever in that Station as long as I get paid I didn't question a lot of things, might have done so.
The task was really simple all we had to do was Mine around the Surface and try to find anything vulnerable as the dude told me back then it was really easy, weird, but easy. It was boring mostly but having Ramirez around made it Fun he was a Person in high spirits I can tell you.
as you may think we didn't find anything on the First day, following with the second, third and fourth day absolutely nothing we just Mined around aimlessly but as I already mentioned it didn't bother me at all why should it? I get paid for Mining Holes in the Moon seriously this was a Great job if it could have just continue like that forever.
since I didn't have anything to do I talked more personal to Ramirez might find more out about my Friend, he told me he has a Family on Earth and that he had a really rough time finding a job back at his Place until suddenly this offer came up honestly it was as if God had heard his prayers it made me happy hearing him telling his story and I wished Ramirez the best for the Future.
We often exchanged personal stories with each other and had many Funny nights together. We continued Mining each day and found absolutely nothing one day I overheard how our Boss got a Call how they probably break the project up because it's too expensive for the government. I mean they are right why have a bunch of Guys up here pay them a Ton of Money for just mining aimlessly holes into the Moon sounds stupid to me and its a huge waste of money they could invest it way better than this, but hey I don't care it as long as the Money is correct I don't ask questions I can't repeat it more often.
On the seventh day and probably the last day I and Ramirez talked about what we would do in the Future since this might be our last day on the Moon. I already knew that this isn't good for Ramirez at all since he had no Work back at home and he somehow needs to feed his family but he wouldn't show me his frustration so I did not ask any further.
when our shift ended and we had to walk back Ramirez told me he would not go back until he finds something and he begged me if I would help him I hesitated for a while but accepted, normally we just mined randomly but this time it was like as if Ramirez had a Plan- no more like a Vision he knew what he had to do so we walked for a bit and started mining, we mined for hours and we mined deep, deeper then before it was as if Ramirez was possessed he really was frustrated and it made me sad I wanted to help my Friend more then ever before he didn't deserve this. At one point right before I was about to give up Ramirez yelled up. It shocked me but he told me he had something I ran immediately over to him and I could not believe my eyes Ramirez seriously found Water on the Moon? how was that possible it was unbelievable Ramirez jumped up out of happiness and I told him we should stop for today and tell this our Boss tomorrow he agreed and we walked back but this wasn't the end how could it, Ramirez the dude who was almost possessed would just give up like that right when he finds something? no how could he the Greed was too deep rooted inside of him at this point so he tried to sneak away at night but I woke up I tried to stop him but he would not listen so I followed him...
we were at the same place as before and kept digging at the point where Ramirez found the water it did not take long and we found something else I thought im dreaming because this just could not be real it was a Jewel it shined so strong and it was green. I called Ramirez over and we tried to get it out of the Stone but it was really persistent we kept hammering and drilling on it but it wouldn't come off suddenly the ground beneath our Feets started to shake and the worst possible situation was right in front of our eyes a Monster was attacking us seems like it trapped his prey with the shining Stone me and Ramirez tried to get away but no chance it was too fast, it grabbed Ramirez I cried and kept on running away I didn't even look back im a Coward how could i let Ramirez on his own... I should have helped him or at least died on his place he had someone waiting for him but for regrets, it's already too late. I stood up the whole night.
The following day I told my Boss about all this he wanted me to show him the Spot we found and where everything happened but I was too scared I just showed him where it circa was and resigned from the Job.
It's been 20 years since day and I never forget Ramirez I don't wanna remember these days because of my cowardly actions. The Government didn't even care that Ramirez got killed by a monster and keeps on searching for Green Jewel we found that night, their greed is unbelievable they don't care for losses or Human lives all that matters is the Profit they can get in this task. If you get every approached by a man in Suit and he asks if you want to take on an "easy job" you rather decline or you might end up like many others Ramirez is not the only one who died to that Monster ever since then but the Government can easily cover these deaths up.
There is just one question that bothers me ever since then if that Monster is hiding and waiting for prey did he awaited us already or are there other beings that lay in hiding ever since we arrived there. There are many hidden things and to be honest, I think its better if we leave these secrets alone and never open them...
2036, all I can do to forget these days is sit in my usual Pub and keep on drinking this dirty cheap Beer to forget...
