I felt my heart beating as fast as it could in the reception room, I hate the hospital, it seems that whenever I go they schedule it on one of my dance club days. Not only that but in the reception there's always 10 million kids screaming and shouting. It's a huge disturbance for me, once I missed the doctor calling my name it was that bad.

I'm Athena Johnson, I'm 14 and I love dancing, but I'm always severely ill; I was born extremely frail and doctors thought I wouldn't make it. But then I was introduced to dancing, whenever music starts playing I have to dance. It takes my mind away from reality, my dad would always play it when doing his workouts and it sounds silly, but it made me want to fight to live. And I did, I exceeded the doctors expectations.

"Miss and Mrs Johnson!" My mum and I where called into the doctors huge white room. I sat down and quickly realised the look of worry on the doctors face. "Mrs Johnson, May you and I quickly talk outside of here?" The doctor said. My mums eyes widened "oh.. Of course." She seemed confused, and so was I.

My mum came back into a room after what seemed like an eternity. She had laminated tears rolling down her face and she hugged me tight. I then realised; this was serious. The doctor sat down and glared into my eyes. "Miss Johnson, we have got back your test results and have found out you have cancer." The doctor stated solemnly. Everything went silent, though I wish it wasn't. I broke into tears and stared at my mum. "We've told your dad hunny, don't worry. You will get through this..." she said. But I doubt she meant the second part. I'm too young.
