Chapter 9: Hogwarts house

"Who was that girl with Draco." I ask Phoebe.
"Oh that's Erin. She's constantly trailing Draco around and everyone thinks they're dating. They're both in Slytherin, the house that has a history of producing evil wizards. Everyone in that house is so mean."
"Hey!" Talia, Abby and Emily shout in unison.
"Well besides you guys." Phoebe carries on, "I'm in gryffindor though and i really hope you join my house."
"Phoebe, she's obviously going to be put in hufflepuff." Emily butts in.
"Oh but i really want her to be in slytherin with us!" Talia wails.
"Guys look at her, she has no idea what we're talking about." Abby correctly points out.

"Who doesn't know what you're talking about?" A girl with dark blonde hair and light blue eyes creeps through the doorway of the carriage. "Katie!" Everyone cheers.
"Sophie, this is katie." Emily introduces me to her.
"Hey Sophie. It's cool seeing someone new around here. Fancy staying with us for this year then?" She says with a smile.
"Yes if you don't mind."
"That's great." Katie says but then turns to Abby and tuts disapprovingly. "Again? You really need to learn this spell you know. Occulus repairo." A quiet cracking noises whips into the air and Abby's slightly broken glasses are instantly fixed. "Anyway it's nice meeting you Sophie but i have to go put my robes on, I expect we'll be arriving soon." And Katie swiftly exits the carriage as quickly as she entered.

"Katie is in ravenclaw. Obviously. She's one of the wisest wizards in our year, that's why she knows all these spells." Talia explains to me. "But she's right, we all need to put our robes on because we're almost there!"

I sit back down in the same carriage but this time i'm wearing my uniform and robes. The shirt feels tighter than ever and my skirt goes way above my knee still. I think back to that moment in the dressing room with Hagrid and wonder if that actually meant something or if he was thinking about something else. Emily interrupts my thoughts before i overthink that single moment. "I can tell my grades are going to slip so much this year, i'm already so busy and now i've taken on the extra lesson of magical beasts. Is anyone else taking that class?" Talia and Abby nod enthusiastically to signify they're taking that class too. "Is that the class Hagrid takes?" I ask.
"Yes! I never asked when i met you, how do you know Hagrid?" Emily replies.
"Oh i met him yesterday actually. Before he took me to diagon alley."
"Ah yes also I'm sorry about how excited i was, it's just refreshing to see new faces."
"I think Hagrid is rather cute." Abby giggles.

But before anyone could process what Abby said, the large looming castle came into view from the Hogwarts Express windows and the whole carriage went silent in admiration.
