Chapter 7

Berthholdt's POV

I went to the trainning grounds and it was empty. What a good thing. I need to ease my mind. I thought it was going well for me until I hear a lovely voice say my name.
"Bert?"
"O-oh hey Y/N"
"Are you okay?"
"Oh yeah. Everything is alright." I say with a slight sadness in my voice which she seemed to catch.
"Really? You don't seem it? Bertholdt you know you can always talk to me but whatever is bothering you I won't force you to talk about it if you don't feel comfortable talking about it."
"I just want to go home. Is that bad?" I ask.
"What kind of question is that Bertholdt? Of course not. All of us here feel that way. Well at least to anyone's whose parents who are still around." I hear her say with sadness in her voice as I gulp.
"What are your parents like Bertholdt?"
"I-uh well my mum died when I was born and as for my dad he's...he's the only thing I have left and he-he's sick. I really am doing all of this for him. Fighting titans and all. I at first didn't want to cause I don't know when he will die but he told me I shouldn't worry. I just want all this madness and bs to end."
I can't believe what happens next.
Y/N, the girl who I-I actually have a crush on put her hand on top of mine which made me blush a bit and I had to look down.
"I do too. I want this madness and bs to end too and I hope the Colossal Titan and Armored Titan die in the worst way possible. Then you can go home."
"And where will you go Y/N?"
"I can always go back to my mum's friend's house but Sasha actually one time was talking how if when the time comes where we gain our freedom from the titans and were allowed to go home I can always stay at her place so I don't feel lonely at my mum's friend's house.
"W-wow that's really nice of her. Hey Y/N if you don't mind me asking why did your parents get seperated?"
She takes a deep breath.
"Well it was always constant yelling between the two and my mum kept getting annoyed that my dad never wanted to go anywhere with her and the two since I always spent time together with the two they I feel in a way would use me as a weapon to see what the other was up to but it was mostly my dad doing it and pressuring me into going places with him. Sure there were times where I really did want to go but there were times when I didn't. When the wall fell me and my brother were with my mum buying some vegetables for a soup she was going to make and when the wall fell and debris was flying everywhere a big boulder actually fell on her. I wanted to help her get out but my brother dragged me along and didn't let me help her. Then we ran to where my dad was living and when we got there we saw a body being dragged from under his house and what do you know? It was my dad who got crushed under his house by a boulder that landed on his house. Me and my brother ran as fast as we could looking for help and then I heard him scream and when I turned around he was already in a titan's grasp and he...and I thought it was over for me to until members of the Garrison unit came to my aid and escorted me to the ship that was going into Wall Rose. My mum's friend took me in and by the time I was twelve when she got really sick and her sickness kept coming and going and medicine was expensive and by the time I was fourteen she died. I haven't been back to her place ever since I enrolled in here in the military and some of my belongings are still there.
Despite all of that the one thing that didn't change about either of my parents is that they loved me and my brother so much and we loved them too. I can't forgive those asshole's for taking everything from innocent people and the lives of thousands and thousands of innocent people I mean why? What did we ever do to them?"
Right now is not the time to be thinking about this but she's so close to me..should I do it?
"Well anyways enough of that Bertholdt we should-"
With all my courage I cup her cheeks in my hands and crash my lips into her's.

YOUR POV

After a long conversation with Bertholdt I was about to tell him we should head on back when he did something clearly unexpected and something I never would have imagined he would do. Bertholdt Hoover. The tall shy boy and my crush crashed his lips on to mine. He was kissing me!
My knee's were shaking and my hands were sweating.
I really didn't want this moment to end but I heard Sasha calling my name.
I quickly pulled apart from Bertholdt and thankfully I did so just in time before she showed up.
"Oh hey Bertholdt. I didn't know you were out here to. Well good thing that you are here to Bertholdt. There's actually some dessert going around in the mess hall."
"Really? What kind?" Bertholdt asked.
"Baumkuchen."
"Oh my favourite!" I say
"Well let's go." Sasha said.
And with that the three of us head on back to the mess hall and me and Bertholdt part ways. Him with Reiner and me with Sasha.
