I watched him in disgust. How could he make that remark about his own people? He, a dark skinned man himself had the nerve to say that about his own people. That he thought light skin women were better than darker women.
Wow, the audacity. An utter disappointment, and the fact that I actually liked some of his music, I deleted every single one of his songs from my playlists as soon as I saw that on Instagram.
I understand that everyone has personal prefrence but saying you would never date a darker women, yeah ight get the fuck out of here with that shit.
As I sat next to my uncle in the meeting room right across from kodak, I looked him right in the face showing how disgusted I was at him on my face. I guess i was making him uncomfortable because he tried his best to not make eye contact with me. lol a grown ass man intimidated by a 17 year old girl.
A fucking joke.
I swear if this wasn't business I would have left. As they talked about what size links he wanted for his chain, I was taking notes on my iPad. It was my job to use a 3D editing app to show them what the piece would look like before they bought it. I worked on the edit as they continue talking about what he wanted, adding stuff as he added more things that he wanted.
When he finished adding details on the chain, I took two minutes to finish up the model.
I turned the tablet around to show him the model of what the chain should look like.
"Damn thats hard as fuck, " he said while grabbing the tablet to get a closer look.
Yeah I know thats why its my job.
I opted for just replying " Yea, " and nodding my head
" So yeah this piece you want is gonna be two hundred-fifty ($250,000), iced out cuban links and the large custom 3D mold of your face is what rakes up the price like that," my uncle told him.
"Alright, that sounds good," he said while nodding his head in agreement that it was a fair price for how much work it would put in to making this piece. He took out his checkbook from his man bag that all the rappers carried now. He wrote the check and slid it across the table. My uncle handed it to me and told me to put it away.
I was glad to get out of there honestly, i walked to the back of the store and opened up the vault with the code. I took out the case where all the checks go and placed it with the others from this week. We keep all checks until a week after the deal has been made incase someone wants to cancel an order, after that week goes by and we start to make their jewelry, there are no refunds. We make that very clear to all our customers.
I closed the safe and walked back to the front of the store. I stood behind the counter with the cash register and the jewels for sale. I leaned on the glass cases and pulled out my phone. I had three missed text messages and a couple of Instagram notifications . One from my mom, one from my best friend Kennedy, and one from Marco this dude i was 'talking' to.
I decided to check the one from my mom first.
She just said her and my dad were going out to eat and I'd have to make myself dinner or ask uncle rob to stop and get something on the way home. I texted back a simple okay.
I decided to ignore Marco probably until tomorrow, maybe he'd get the hint that I wasn't really feeling him and back off. I didn't want to be rude and just tell him I don't like him, so I'm hoping he gets the hint, I've already been dry texting for the past week.
The text from Kennedy asked if I wanted to go to a halloween party tomorrow night. I agreed because I haven't been to a party since her birthday last summer. I heard the office door open and saw Uncle Rob and Kodak exit the office and head to the front door where the security were. We always had security at the store, 24 hours a day, just incase something happened. Where in Los Angeles where the people are crazy as hell, so its better to be safe than sorry. They shook hands then Kodak left.
