Chapter 14

Mercedes walked into the bank with Puck right behind her. She went to sit in a chair and crossed her legs as she went through her purse.

He sat next to her and wondered what she was doing.

A woman walked over. "Hello. Are you waiting to be seen?"

"Yes, we are." Mercedes smiled back brightly.

The woman was instantly put at ease. "This way please. My name is Charlene and you are?"

"I'm Mercedes Catherine and this is Noah." Mercedes followed her.

Charlene shook hands with both then led them to her glass office. She sat down after offering them refreshments and seating. "Now what can I help you with today?"

"I'd like to open him up his first bank account. He also needs to apply for a credit card and get a debit card. In fact, two credit cards. The Prime and the Perks."

Charlene smiled widely. "I just want to say thank you for choosing our bank to open your first account with."

Puck smiled wanly, not understanding any of this.

"How much do you want to put in savings?"

Mercedes brought out one of his checks.

Charlene's eyes bulged out of her head when she saw the amount but she quickly composed herself. "And the checking?"

Mercedes handed her another check.

Charlene was able to keep her expression neutral this time. "May I see your driver's license or state ID card?"

Puck handed it over.

Charlene typed in the information she needed from the card then handed him several different forms to fill out. "We do have to run a credit check."

He bobbed his head, not sure what that meant.

"He doesn't have credit." Mercedes jumped in.

"Oh!" Charlene was delighted to hear that. "Then you came to the right bank! We offer many programs that'll raise your credit score!"

Mercedes knew that. That was why they were there. She smiled.

Tina stared at her cards, mesmerized.

Mike chuckled. "You okay?"

"I've never had a black card before. I've never had any card before."

"The black card is great because it literally doesn't have a limit."

She felt faint.

"Come on. It's time for lunch."

"Have you seen anyone since we've come back?" She walked beside him.

He shook his head. "Mercy and Marcy were gone and Quinn stepped out to handle something with Cory. Mal was the only one in orchestra but he's leaving after lunch for a meeting."

She was so jealous of their life. Then she realized it was going to be her life, too. At least for the next ten months. "What should I do with the money?"

"What do you want to do with your money?"

She definitely heard him say "your money". "I have no idea."

"Puck and Finn are buying their families houses. Do you want your parents to relocate?"

Her eyes widened. "You think I should buy my parents a house?!"
