CHAPTER TWO: BROKEN

___________________________________

Haechan was staring at the time on his phone while Mark was calmly taking deep breaths.

The interview had run a little longer than was planned which was making the two late for practice.

Thankfully, the two were able to do the interview without much trouble, though they could tell that the members were watching them more carefully.

The two had taken a different car from the rest of 127, since the others were going back to their dorm. Mark looked over at the time on Haechan's phone.

It was now eight at night, and that was when their practice would have started. Technically, it started ten minutes previously.

Their choreographer ordered them to come early so that they could warm up, then start the actual practice on time.

Mr. Yang, the choreographer, would be extremely pissed off if they were late. Even if it was by thirty seconds. Haechan locked his phone and put away.

He looked over at Mark with an unreadable expression.

Well, to another person it would be unreadable, but to Mark, he was able to read Haechan like a book.

That was the expression that meant that he had retreated into a space in the back of his mind.

Mark internally sighed. He was grateful that they would be sleeping in the Dream dorm that night. It was going to take a while for Haechan to get back to a healthy part in his mind.

They finally made it to the practice studio and quickly ran out of the car after saying a quick 'thank you' to the driver.

They rushed through the doors and ran up the stairs to the fifth floor. Before they reached the door to their practice room, they paused for a second, catching their breaths.

They could hear music playing from the room. The two looked at each one last time before they opened the door.

Mr. Yang looked over at them immediately with a stern glare. Mark closed the door, and grabbed Haechan's arm, moving him over to where they placed their stuff.

The music stopped, and it was eerily silent except for the heavy breathing of the members.

Mark looked over and noticed that Jeno had turned off the music. He was looking at Mark and Haechan worriedly. All of the members were.

Mr. Yang walked over to the two and stood in front of Haechan. "Why are you late?" he asked, no emotion in his voice, glaring fiercely at him.

Haechan looked down at the floor. When Mr. Yang spoke they weren't allowed to look at him in the eyes, except if there was another member from NCT present.

Mark hated how he had chosen Haechan to speak to. Haechan tended to stutter and choke up when he was confronted with Mr. Yang. to them, "W-we were at an interview w-with 127," Haechan said stuttering and slightly mumbling.

"Speak louder and clearer. I can't understand a damn word you're saying,"

Haechan jumped at the loudness of Mr. Yang's voice.

"We had an interview to do with 127. It ran longer than we thought it would,"
Haechan was able to say a little louder and clearer, though not by much.
