❝ CHAPTER TEN: ANOTHER AFTERMATH ❞

The next day Mark had to call the manager telling him that Chenle was sick. It was fairly easy to convince Mr. Song that he was just exhausted, and his body needed rest.
It was the phone call with Taeyong that he was dreading, knowing that he would have to tell him that Chenle was sick.
If he knew Taeyong correctly, he Would be more worried than the manager. He stared at the phone.
One more push of a button then Taeyong would be receiving a call. Jaemin walked over to Mark and sat down next to him.
"Calling Taeyong about Chenle?" he asked. Mark sighed, and lowered his head, "l should be. I'm worried about what the conversation will be like. I don't want to have to answer any more questions of 'are we okay' "
Jaemin nodded his head. "I understand. Those questions are getting really tiring," there was some silence before Jaemin spoke again,
"Have you spoken to Johnny yet?" Mark shook his head, "No. He's called me multiple times and left messages saying that he was sorry, but I just don't want to be around them right now. Being around too many people drains me now,"
"Have you figured out how you will deal with the Halloween party then?" Mark sighed again, then placed his head on the table on top of his arms.
"I forgot about the party. How am I supposed to put up a front with all those people?"
"I'm sure you'll find a way. You've done fairly well up to this point," Jaemin responded.
Mark lifted his head a bit, still resting it on his arms, and continued to stare at the phone. You should make the call.
"The longer you put it off the worse it will be," Jaemin said. Mark grabbed the phone, then pressed the button to send the call. He put the phone against his ear, waiting for Taeyong to pick up.
He hoped that Taeyong would miss the call, but that didn't happen. He picked up almost the second that Mark had hit the button.
"Hey, Mark. What's up?" Taeyong asked. Mark was silent for a second, almost forgetting why he had to call. Maybe if he didn't say anything Taeyong would hang up?
No, nothing like that would happen. He'd keep calling his name until he picked up.
"Chenle is sick, so he won't be able to do any of the activities for a while," Mark said. He hoped that that was enough for Taeyong, but once again, he was wrong.
"What do you mean sick? How bad is it?"
"He's just exhausted. I think it took o toll on his body, so he needs to rest. I've let the manager know already," Taeyong was silent.
Mark could swear that he was wanting to ask him what they were always asking him about. "Thanks for letting me know. Do you want me to come over and check on him?" Mark shrugged, then remembered that Taeyong wouldn't have seen that.
