This is just a boring old story

My name is Valencia B. I am 23 years old, I live alone in my quiet Victorian house...well I have a cat so I'm not entirely alone. Her name is Luna, shes a curious and loving cat, she looks after the house when I'm not home. I live in a boring side of town the nobody really passes by, nobody really lives around here because, my house is the only occupied one on this street. I live near 2 other abandoned houses. My apartment number...and I'll tell you knowing you'll never find it or me.

-1661 Old Willow road, Beside this old eucalyptus tree that smells like mint and grungy amber. The sky was grayish baby blue, the yard was filled with toad stools and clovers.

I love that old tree. But this story isn't all just about me and my cat...well maybe it is? I'm not sure where my mind starts to unravel when I start to remember all the events that start to happen...

I was playing my favorite kind of music on my phone, connected to a speaker. I love Lo-fi music, it's so calming. The beats flow through the empty halls of my home, the window drapes are spread open by my hands. My palms felt dry agents the soft washed linens, I look down into my hands "Really? guess I need some lotion" I say in a mono toned whisper. I turned around and walked up the hard wood stairs. Light soft pitter patters walked behind me as I walked up stairs, the smell in the air changed. Sweet Lavender, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Mint. "AH! I left my incense burning!" quickly, I ran to my bedroom and brought it back downstairs, then placed it on my kitchen table. The table; made of quartz will not burn, unlike the wooden dresser I had placed it upon... I sighed "God, I'm so stupid..and I forgot my moisturizer.." I rub my head and went back up stairs, little feet following me closely behind.

As soon as I found it, my cat meowed at me and I jumped around "LUNA! You scared me yah lil shite" I said to her, personally I talk to my cat how I want. She cocked her head at me and turned it to the window, she then jumped onto the window shelf, I patted her and turn my head looking outward. "Hmm" I Said, the trash was turned over and my mail box was open. "I wonder who could have done that?" I thought, I rushed down the stairs and out the door. As I walked towards my trash and mail box, a strong wind blew and there was a chill in the air. My skin was tingling with goose bumps, but I'm not afraid of living alone.

"That's really weird" I thought "since when have I not been afraid of living alone?"

I grabbed the bin, positioning it upward. Then turned to the mail box...which is all of a sudden, closed? Why is it closed when I just saw it open when I was upstairs. "Please, I'm not falling for this, it was the wind" I thought to myself. I opened the mail box and there was mail for the first time mail! I had only been living here for 3 weeks now and haven't got any since my big move, and it seems to be atleast 3 envelopes. I rushed inside and jumped on the couch to begin to open them.

The first envelope was red, rough stock card like, and had a black emblem of a goat on it. Nothing else was written on it, it gave off the scent of goats milk and....blood, I don't know what kind but it's offputting "That's very cult like and I'll probably leave that for last...haaa.." I said out loud placing it on the coffee table.

The second envelope was just a regular post office envelope but it was covered in pressed wildflowers, and when I opened it glitter and a rabbits foot fell out onto my lap. I paused to stare at the foot "what...the...HeLL?! Ummmm?!" I yelled dropping it, Luna ran and picked it up running off. There was no note inside of it....and no address on it neither, it just says "To the owner of the purple house, Welcome!" Written in an angry messy lettering, they used old dried ink but it seemed like they tried to make it work.

"I'm starting to think, those houses aren't abandoned, but whenever I asked the realtor...she never answered my question" I pondered.

Flash back to when I asked. I looked straight in her eyes "so are there anybody else living around here?" I asked, and there was silence where she had been just telling me about the wood artist name of the house. " Well, they've been abandoned for quite some time, they have owners but no one really stops by!" She says with a worried glint in her eye, but a smile and shaking hands.

At that moment, I was puzzled but interested like an idiot "Well it is like really cheap for a house like this... And there haven't been any incidents? Nothing reported?" I asked, she shook her head, unprofessional but I fell for it.

I sighed on the couch, "She really caught me didn't she?!" I said clutching my fist. "Well it's a good thing I bought some protection books, herbs, salt, and other stuff before I moved in" ...

Then all of a sudden there was a knock at the door, hastily yet very loud... knock. Knock from who? There's no one living around here. I jumped to the door and peeped out the window. There was a figure with hair down it's face. It was almost like fur, like a beard but from head to toe! I stared at it as it waved back at me and smiled back, then it pointed at me. "What's it doing?" I whispered, Luna jumped on my shoulders "looks like a crazy person" said Luna .
