The same afternoon, when Zayn got to unleash his thoughts and convert them into a creative representation in his diary, the scenario in Colton was chaotic but in a good way. Everyone got to know about the underground competition in the club. A little disappointment of not knowing, regret of not applying and whole lot of excitement was what the chaos about. According to the rules participants were allowed to bring one companion with them. Otherwise audience were charged but it seemed like people would take that risk. The news spreaded like virus through gossips and announcements. Nora was in it, Zayn was in it, one had the idea of the other's participation but not skills while the other one did not know either of it. What could happen was the question left unanswered.

(Nora's POV)

Competition was at it's peak now, I felt nervous and excited at the same time. I could skateboard since I was eight and practiced hard for learning everything in it,  I have to win this. It came with a wonderful prize and I wanted that. Plus being a girl was something quiet negligible in my conservative family. I wanted to prove them wrong and I am gonna do that.

Max took me in after the incident that happened days ago. Seriously that guy was, is and will be a dickhead. I was sitting in the cafeteria now, I saw a group walking through the aisle, I think I saw the guy who was in the club and no it wasn't Max but the other guy who was at the table. Cole, supposed to be his name I guess. He was with Bella!?  I saw Shirley and a guy with her, could be her boyfriend she told me about. I gave her a wave, when she noticed me  she waved back and walked towards me. I think she bid her friends goodbye, it was about time to leave but I didn't have class so I stayed put. I'll leave in a bit. She sat across to me and greeted me, she was sweet to be honest but sometimes a little too much which I couldn't digest. I'm not used to so much of a friendly nature around me.

"Hey! I was about to come to talk to you." She said and I beckoned her to continue with a nod.
"First good news, I got selected for a talent show held in California." She squealed and continued, "second, my portfolio is done!"
"What portfolio?"
She explained me something about  fashion which I didn't get an idea of but I nodded pretending I understood her blabbering. She was a casual friend to me who I met in college and I don't think.. she would be behind a mission to kill me or something, but I got trust issues so I didn't take interest in befriending her that much.

I congratulated her that she got selected,
"That's great. So when are ya going?"
"There's still time and bels is gonna come with me, so it's gonna be a little less stressful." I nodded,
"You don't need to be stressed, you practiced hard for this, it would be good." I consoled her and she gave me a smile, I smiled back.
"Where are you going now.... and oh! I forgot to ask you about your competition! When Is it!? How's everything going!?" She was like an exciting hamster, she almost jumped from her seat,  I looked at my sides cause she was quiet loud to gather people around.
"Quiet well, and the announcement has been made days ago, you don't need to do that again Shirley." She chuckled and I smiled slightly. I explained everything about my competition and the incident with that punk.
"What a bad man. That's so not cool, men always feel that they're superior but in reality they're just as much struggling as us. When will they learn?" She made me laugh for the language she used, it was like I was talking to a twelve year old.
"What are you, ten?" I chuckled but I saw her furrowing her eyebrows.
"Huh!?"
"Nothing." I avoided the topic. No way she could murder me. Oh my God, I don't think she could kill a fly. I could trust her I guess. So I got an idea.

"Hey, you wanna come to my competition as they said I can bring one extra with me. It'll be over by evening. What say?" I saw her face snapped in a jiffy towards me.
"Really?" I nodded. She took out her cell phone and I saw her texting someone. She looked a bit upset. She locked her phone and dumped it in her bag.
"Bad news?"
She sighed and shook her head. I could make out that something was off but let it go. I didn't force her. She talked after a while of silence,
"Umm.... I think I'll see you then Nora. I got to go early today. Why you don't text me about the competition? I'll definitely come."
Okay.... pretending to be happy even though you're not, seems not right to me.
"Sure why not..." I dialed my number in her cell and waved her an adieu.

(Shirley's POV)

I was leaving the premise, Pete wasn't contacting me at all. I didn't have any idea of his whereabouts. I just know that he's out of town and lost his phone. I was with Bella and the guy she was seeing lately, he hangs out with us. Surprisingly it was one of the guys we saw down the alley that night. His name was Cole and he was nothing like the other guy or the mystery one who I bumped into few days ago. The mystery one was undoubtedly handsome I must say, with his cider orbs and beard.

He wore the hood again so I couldn't see his hair but I could make out that they were dark colored as a few strands were falling out of his hood, but on the other hand he didn't even acknowledge my apology. I didn't like that, he was quite rude. Also I made a new friend  Noah, he is so sweet and he's in my English class. He wants to major in the language. We talked about everything and I introduced him to everyone. He's very interactive and friendly. He said to me that he likes meeting new people, it gives him inspiration to write. Interesting isn't it? Well, I was heading home, neither did Pete come today nor I saw Chris anywhere. I mean what's up with that girl, when I called her she said she was sick. I was concerned about her health so I asked if I could come to her house but she denied saying that she isn't home but at her cousin's house.

"Hi Mum, I'm home."
"Oh honey I was about to call you, where were you?" She wants something for herself from the store, for sure.
"I'm not going anywhere mum. I want to complete my portfolio, I told you already."
"Honey didn't you complete it yesterday." She said it with a playful smirk. God I shouldn't have told her before.
"I can't lie to you, can I?"
"You can't lie to anyone honey." She chuckled and handed my a bag,
"There's a new bakery that has opened down the alley. It's wonderful and today's the day they sell their special pie crust,  Please bring that for me, will you?"
Down the alley? Ever since I went to the library and the little interaction with him, I avoided going down there.
"Why is everything new there, why down the alley? That place is so... Lonely"
"It's a new developing place, that's why people are opening shops there, I even heard there's some...what you youngsters say? Club! Yeah...that, it's there!" I raised an eyebrow at that. There's a separate club down the alley?
"Anyway I wanted to inform you that I'm going to Nora's competition with her so we're gonna be returning by evening. Can I go?" I held her hand and rested my chin on her shoulder to butter up you know.
"Only if I get my crust from the bakery."
"Very smooth." She laughed.
"I'll be back and don't blame me if it gets over."

She bid me goodbye and I walked my way to the bakery. It's quiet sunny today so I didn't opt to wear a jacket. I was wearing a  simple spaghetti top and a skirt. I came near the alley but there was no bakery I could see around. I looked almost everywhere and all I saw was bunch of dustpans and poles and a narrow road, I sighed and walked further. After a while I came across a camper van, I think I saw it before...but where? Forget it, bakery? Bakery? I looked around and I saw someone was throwing trash out of the window of the camper. He threw a packet and then a black backpack and then the freak itself jumped out. He was in a smokey grey jumper and board shorts. I tilted my head to look at who it was but he took a glance at me instead.  His hair were blocking the view, they were died green I suppose. That's what it seemed like. I flinched a little when I thought he was gonna point a gun at me or something. But instead of that he removed a spray paint can from his backpack. He started doodling on the wall, I stood still there watching him from a fair distance. I was far enough to notice his actions. After some time of watching him drawing or spray painting, I was distracted by a bug sitting on my wrist so I looked down and flicked it away. My vision played with me or did he just vanish. I blinked a few times to see that I wasn't dreaming and no I wasn't.

I went up to the wall where he was doodling and saw bold black font. My throat went dry when I read what he wrote.
