The panic set in as I attempted to wipe the bloodstains from my inner thighs to prevent them from dripping down my leg. I didn't know what to do, my phone was in my bag which was in my locker. The only other person in the building was Aidan and he was right across the other side in his office so he wouldn't hear me if I shouted.

Tears formed in my eyes as waves of pain shot through me again, I could have gotten up but I didn't want to further the mess I had already made of my clothing. Instead, I allowed myself a minute to completely break down and it was just as I had gotten lost in the moment that I heard the door to the toilets slam shut.

"Rowan, are you in here?"

"Aidan," I whimpered.

"I had been looking everywhere for you when I realised you were gone from the bar. I thought you had left without telling me until I checked your locker and saw that your things were still in there."

"Aidan," I said again, this time my voice was louder but the huskiness from the crying was evident.

"I knew something didn't feel right," Aidan gasped, his tone laced with worry. "Did something happen? Did someone say something to you about us?"

"No, it's nothing like that," his footsteps stomped across the tiled floor until I saw his shoes appear from under the gap in the door.

"Then tell me, you're starting to scare me now, Ro."

"Are you squeamish? Are you okay with blood?" I quizzed.

"Nothing bothers me. Now open this door before I kick it open," without hesitation, I leant forward, unlocked the door and pulled it open. "What..." Aidan began to speak but cut himself off, his eyes dropped down from my tear-stained face and took in my blood-stained underwear.

"I think I lost the baby," I whimpered and his gaze snapped back to mine.

"I'm taking you to the hospital right now!" He insisted.

"No, please. I just want to go home," which I did, right now all I wanted to do was to take some pain relief, take a shower and climb into bed so I could sleep for the next twelve hours.

"You need to get checked out, Ro. What if there are complications?" Aidan whined.

"If anything happens to me then I will go but right now I just want to sleep."

"Please, Rowan," his pleas were a lullaby, a lullaby of persuasion.

"Don't make this situation any worse for me. I've made my decision. Now please I need your help," I murmured.

"Fine," Aidan sighed. "Don't move just yet."

He took his phone out of his trouser pocket, dialled a number and placed the phone to his ear whilst he hastily strode out of the bathroom, leaving me alone again. I knew Aidan wouldn't just leave me here for no good reason, so I took some tissue, wiped my face and tried to make myself look a little more presentable before he came back.

After a couple of minutes, he reentered with keys jingling in his hand. The same keys he used to unlock a hidden cupboard underneath the counter, one that you wouldn't be able to find unless you knew it was there. I watched this unfold in disbelief, almost like I was sitting on the sofa at home and not on the toilet.

"Who did you call?" I spoke up.

"My mum, I needed her advice," he now opened the cupboard to reveal numerous boxes.

"Should I even ask why?" Embarrassment swamped my body.

"My mum's a doctor, a gynaecologist to be exact. She works at a women's health clinic dealing with stuff like this."
