"I hate the first day of school!"Alice pushed her dark brown hair out of her face. "Everyone spendsthe first 45 minutes showing off their new thousand dollar shoes andsouped up cars."

The two girls sat on the bench outside of Mickie's Corner Store. They wore baggy shirts and rippedshorts, but they were far from Vsco girls. They left there scrunchiesand hydro flask for the the other girls. The best part about theirfriend ship was that they didn't judge each other.

The sun had set and the street lightsilluminated the city.

"At least you only hate the firstday, I hate all 180." Bry smiled.

"I wish we went to the same school. There is no one at the Academy, like you." There was a hint ofsadness in Alice's voice. She had friends at her school but, itwasn't the same. This past summer was full of laughter and no drama. They came together like long lost sisters, a feeling most people willnever experience.

"There's no-way! I could neverafford the tuition. Me and Cindy would both have to sell our organson the black market." Bry said. Alice let out a laugh, clearlyshocked at the vulgar joke. She was from a different world as far asBry was concerned. She grew up in mansions and had seen more countrysin her first 16 years of life, then bry would ever see.

Bry grew up in the apartment above thecorner store. She shared it with Cindy, the only family she had everknown and had barely left the city, let alone the country.

"They do have scholarships." Alicesuggested, completely sincere.

"I don't exactly have a 4.0 goinginto freshman year." Bry said in a joking way, but it wasn't a lie.She struggled, even for decent grades.

"Do you want a soda?" Bry jumpedto her feet.

"Your aunt wont mind?" Alice wasalways polite. Looking at her, you wouldn't think so. Not only didshe come from money, but she always looked put together.

"No, not at all!" She left Aliceoutside, and slipped back into the store. She past Cindy sittingbehind the register, reading a magazine. "Are you girls stayingout of trouble."She peeked upped from the magazine with a smile.

"Yes," She pulled out twosodas from the cooler section of the store. "Can we take these?"She set them on the counter.

Cindy nodded."But don't stay outto mush longer. you have school tomorrow.

"Ok!" She took the sodasoutside."Here we go." She handed the can to her friend witha smile.

"My dad just texted me and he willbe here soon." Alice blurted out with an apologetic look.

"You can take this to go" Bryhanded the soda to her.

"Thank you! Will hang out soon."They gave a short hug and as she pulled away she could hear the carpull up.

"I know." Bry stepped backand let her friend go. Alice's father politely waved from the driversseat. She watched her friend drive off, leaving her alone in front ofthe store and with that came the official ending to their summer. Ifonly she knew what was to come. She would know this was more thenjust the end to another summer.
