Brooke's POV

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing.

I sat up, and pulled out my phone. The caller ID read:

"Tori Evans"

I blinked. I hadn't spoken with Tori since the 5th grade, when I moved away from Los angeles We were best friends, and than my dad got a new job and we had to just pick up and leave.

I answered the phone.

"Hey! Happy birthday!" I heard Tori's cheerful voice on the other line.
I broke out in a huge grin, as I said, "thanks so much! What's up, how's L.A?"

"Good. I have a huge surprise for your birthday but your gonna have to wait for tomorrow to find out."

"Please tell me now! I hate being in suspense you should know that by now!" I complained.

"I do. But, I also don't care. Gotta go, happy birthday!" She said, and with that, she hung up.

I groaned as I pulled myself out of bed, and walked to the bathroom to wash up.

After showering, and brushing my teeth, I walked back into my bedroom and plopped onto my bed in my towel.
I picked up my phone and opened up Facebook, seeing I had 57 notifications, no doubt they were all birthday messages. After checking them all, I began typing,

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, love you all!

I tapped the post button and turned my phone off, tossing it on the bed.
I pulled on a blue and white striped tee, jean shorts, and slipped on my Ralph Lauren sandals. I grabbed my purse and phone and went down the stairs.

I was greeted by my entire family sitting down at the kitchen table, singing happy birthday.

They all had horrible voices, aside for my half-sister, Charlotte, who I assumed was only here because our father forced her to be.

I smiled at them and began singing along, as I plopped down on the seat beside my older brother, Justin.

I have him a huge hug, and he ruffled my hair, planting a kiss on my cheek.
I barely got to see him, since he was a senior in college, and stayed as far away from home as he could.

Looking around the table, I broke into a huge smile at my parents and siblings singing along.

There was a cake at the center of the table, and I began cutting it.

After serving everyone a sliver of cake, eating, and chatting for a bit, I looked at the time and realized it was 12:00.

Kelsey, Adam and Matt are supposed to pick me up to go the mall and lunch in about

5, 4, 3, 2, 1

I heard the sound of a car horn, excused myself from the table, and promised to be home by 6:00 so we could go out to eat dinner together.

I raced out the door and spotted Matt's car in front of my house, Katy Perry's birthday, blasting from the speakers.
I also noticed the moving truck in front of the house across the street from mine.

Finally, someone was moving in, that house has been empty for the past year.

I spotted a boy, who looked to be around my age, step out of the car. He was, well, attractive to say the least.

He had near black hair, that reminded me of Percy Jackson's, blue eyes, that reminded me of Tobias' and eyelashes that any girl would die for.

"Mom, be careful with my books!" Pretty boy screamed.

Ooh, and a book-nerd. I believe I may have just found myself a new friend.
Matt beeped yet again, shaking me out of my reverie.

I noticed the new neighbor looking at me, and sent a friendly smile his way.
He flashed a smile back at me as I climbed into my car and was greeted by hugs from kelsey and adam, and a kiss from Matt.

They turned the music on louder, and I sang along smiling to myself. I have the best friends in the world.
