Title: Just My Imagination
Word Count: 188
"Does it only happen in movies?" I asked my best friend as we walked home from school.
He turned to me, not stopping. "What?"his brow raised in question.
"Falling in love with your best friend," I said as if it was just an ordinary conversation. Little did he know, it took me days to muster the courage to bring it up. I wanted to know what he thinks.
Part of me didn't want to, but what can I do? I'm only human.
He shook his shoulders once, "Dunno," he said staring straight ahead, his walks were very light, making the way home slightly longer.
I didn't know what to say so I stayed quiet.
Maybe he doesn't. What was I thinking?
Stupid girl. He only thinks of you as a friend.
Better make the feelings go away.
"How about you?" he asked. "Do you think it happens?"
I do. I want to.
"No," I found myself saying. "Friends should stay as friends."
Before I looked away to blink back my tears, I thought I saw a little disappointment on his face.
No. Must be my imagination.
