My heart broke upon hearing the terrible news. One day the meteorologist gave the report that there would be a Category 5 hurricane. When my family and I heard the news, we started shaking and moving from side to side, moving our hands and our hearts were altered. While, I went to the market, the people was talking about the trajectory of hurricane Maria. I felt very sad, nervous and anxious many thing came to my mind. I moved sideways since I couldn't talk to my family or my friends. In the market, my family bought canned food, water, potatoes and other things. After we were preparing for hurricane Maria. We assemble windows shields, we gathered water and food. We also went to the gas station to buy gasoline.

September 20, 2017, the day of the hurricane. My family and I were ready to receive the hurricane so we all stayed together at my dad's house. My father's house is made of cement and we decided to be there because it is safer. At 12 a.m. we were watching television but the power went out. Immediately, we listened to the news through the radio. Consequently, we decided to go to sleep.

"Get up! Get up!," my mother yelled.

"What's going on?," I yelled.

"Water is getting into the house," my mother said.

"Let's go to the bathroom," my father said.

The water was getting into the rest of the house, so something could happen to us. As a result, we decided to move to the bathroom. I was very scared, my hands were shaking, the noise of the hurricane was very loud, the sound was like a monster. My family and I were in the bathroom until the hurricane passed. During that period of the time, there was a lot of rain and strong winds. When the hurricane was already moving away we decided to move to my brother's room and we all slept there.

The hurricane passed and I decided to go outside. When I went outside everything was very sad, my heart was breaking into a thousand pieces and I wanted to cry. At that time, broken trees were in the floor, many leaves were in the road. The telephone lines were on the ground but I didn't approach them because something could happen to me. The pole were split and that caused us to have no electricity. It seemed as if the country had burned. I started to despair when my phone had no signal.

Next, I decided to help my neighbors and I tried to colled the ravages. Because, this was the time to join and help us all, we needed a clear streets and driveways. To clear my mind, I also decided to walk. While I was walking I saw many landslide, mud on the road, destroyed house and very sad people. They were crying, you could see sadness and despair. I also saw others very close and helping each other.

During those days things were harder, since buying supplies was difficult, the waiting lines or that there was nothing. So my family and I had to eat whatever there was left. At that time, I learned to eat whatever, since I didn't like many food. Sometimes, when I went through fast food like Burger King I ate when I could. Already over the weeks people were recovering more.

Besides, one day my friend Greiza went to visited me. It was like a few weeks.

"Hey, How are you?," Greiza yelled.

"Hi, I didn't expect to see you, I'm fine and how are you?," I said.

"I'm fine, I came to see you since I had seen your brothers helping around my house and told them to bring you over, but they never brought you, Ha! Ha!," Greiza laughed.

"You know how they are they never tell me anything Ha! Ha!," I laughed. I share a good time with her. I felt very happy as if I had not seen her for years.

But, I can say that in time the techonology did not needed me to use it to be able to communicate with my family and friends. Besides, my family and I were more united since we spent more time together as well as the community.

Finally, months later, things were restored and returned as before. I can say that the hurricane was not a good experience but, it did bring a good lesson, that people were more united and valued things more.
