~Sam's POV
My eyes were closed, my breath was steady. In through my nose out through my mouth. With every breath I took in, I could smell the lavender sifting through the air. I could hear the crackle of the flame from the candles. My mind was blank, all except the sound, smell, and touch of a hand on my shoulder. Lightly the hand tapped their fingers, in response, I slowly opened my eyes. I turned around to see a boy sitting on my bed. He had black hair and pale skin. He was no more than 17 years old, nearly one year older than I. When I met his chocolate brown eyes he smiled. That took my breath away. His dazzling smile lit up the room. I stood up from my crouched position and leaped at him. He caught me and rolled back. His strong arms cradled me against his chest. I gazed at him with such joy I thought I might explode into a million golden facets of light.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty" He breathed with a hint of sarcasm.
"Good morning," I replied, sweeping his hair from his eyes with a gentle touch. Suddenly his eyes turned serious. He looked at me with such intensity my heart skipped a beat. Slowly he slid me off him. His hand lingered on the small of my back. I sat up and stared back. His liquid brown eyes bored into mine. He lifted his hand and tucked a strand of my dark auburn hair behind my ear, his fingers lightly caressed my snow-white cheek. I leaned into his embrace. His hand on my back pulled me closer, which caused my cheeks to blaze, turning scarlet. He moved his face closer, I could feel his hot breath on my face. This only made my face burn hotter. My breath started to come faster. The hand on my cheek stopped then anchored under my ear. A wave of heat crawled across my skin, he smiled. His smile faded then he leaned closer. His lips fell on mine, he started to whisper against them.
"Samantha," He whispered.
"Yes," I replied breathlessly, he laughed at the sound of my voice, it was a light sound.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, then he grazed his teeth on my full bottom lip. He was teasing me.
"A little faint," I admitted my voice trembled. He responded by pulling me against his chest. My mind went blank and I couldn't move let alone breathe. Then he tilted my chin up towards his face, I did not protest. He leaned away for a fraction of a second to see if I complied. Finally, he molded his lips to mine. My hand involuntarily reached up and tangled my fingers in his hair. I found myself bowing my body towards his, I parted my lips as we kissed. Just like that, it was over. He pulled away and I freed my fingers from his hair resting my arms around his neck. As if not to hurt my feelings he pecked me one last time, he leaned back to gauge my reaction to his kiss. I hoped that he could see that I was thrilled. Even after the kiss my cheeks still blazed, especially now that we were awkwardly tangled on my bed. The blankets were sprawled around us in a messy pile, mainly because I never made my bed. For a moment we gazed into each other's eyes every once in a while he would grin and I would blush with chagrin. He eventually opened his mouth to speak.
"Sam?" He asked, his voice was smooth.
"Braxton," I replied with a smirk.
"Are you still worried ?" He wondered, I waited to answer. Knowing if I answered too quickly that he would hear the strain that was building in my throat.
"Yes, but meditation and..." I paused choking on my words, " the kiss helped," He looked at me with his mouth set in a thin line. Then he pulled his hand off my cheek and pulled my hand down from his neck. Looking down at our hands, now intertwined, he began to speak...
"Look, Sam, there is nothing to worry about," Braxton said his voice was like honey rolling off his fluent tongue.
"Except that my dad doesn't approve of you, and he might kill me and you if he finds out we're still dating." As I stated the obvious, he pulled his eyebrows together, and an 11 formed between them. I frowned, I knew that Henry, my dad, would never approve of any boy I brought home, and ever since I actually brought one home he's been difficult. I was lost in my reverie when a loud deep voice penetrated it.
