Girl: (before)
When I’m all grown up I’m going to have a great big wedding.
Full of lace, flowers and all kinds of finery only from the most exquisite countries.
Everyone will be drinking champagne and eating dinner together merrily.
Each guest will sit at a table that has beautiful cloths and silks to grace the table.
Laid on the table will be all the finest china and silver among the gourmet foods.
I will look beautiful in my long sleeveless dress made of crème silk.
My hair and make up will be on point and all the other girls will be jealous.
And my husband will be there too of course.
Looking as dashing as ever in his suit and tie, he will look just as I imagined him.
He will have a chiseled face and many muscles.
He’ll be my super man.
The love we’ll have of course will not really matter at the time.
What is really important is that this is a fun party to remember.
Woman: (after)
Him. That’s all I could see was Him.
I saw him standing there as he took my hand and smiled at me, revealing his dimples.
His pudgy hand wrapped around mine.
He told me I looked beautiful.
That I looked as radiant as the sun.
I looked down at my short dress made of white lace.
I had sleeves that went to my elbow, pearls around my neck, and a white bow in my hair.
But I didn’t compare to him.
He stood there in his crisp white shirt and gray pants.
I reached my hands up to straighten his turquoise bow tie and suspenders.
Then we walked outside together to see our small gathering of family of friends.
They were strewn about the large lawn on picnic blankets underneath the warm lights
Hanging from the vines above our head.
We sat together on our own blanket and held up our cider in cheers.
Afterwards we passed out cupcakes and ice cream.
Then at the end, him and I, we left the crowd that remained there on the hill,
Still trying to figure out how to line dance.
We lay together on the grass and looked up at the stars together.
We told each other how much we loved one another.
I wiped the tears coming from his eyes as we sat together and pondered our eternity
Together.
