(Pairing: Hinata/Kageyama)
Hinata had never felt this way towards a girl, even more so for a boy, but there was something that was always making him feel giddy and nervous around Karasuno's dark haired setter. His dark eyes, his slender fingers, his adorable circular nails - everything about him made Hinata shiver. The way he perfectly sets to Hinata, how the ball perfectly lands central to his palm and the fact that after every successful set he would quickly shoot him a soft grin made Hinata melt into the soles of his shoes. Kageyama truly was an enigma to Hinata, making butterflies hover within his stomach every day and night.Something was off with Kageyama today, and Hinata knew that very well as the sets that were provided to him weren't the ones that he treasured; that gave him that momentary feeling of pleasure. Sugawara and Daichi had noticed as well, suggesting that he take a moment off the court to recollect whatever thoughts were plaguing his mind. Normally, Kageyama would refuse the invitation to do so, insisting that he keep playing, but this time, unexpectedly for everyone on the team, he accepted and quietly stepped off the court, scratching his scalp lightly as a sigh escaped his lips.
Hinata hadn't been feeling well ever since Kageyama disappeared from the court. The sets he had received from Sugawara were comfortable, of course, but they just didn't give him that rush that he gets from hitting Kageyama's tosses. As Sugawara tossed the volleyball towards Hinata, he prepared to attempt the run-up associated with spiking, but to everyone's surprise, Hinata completely misses the ball, the ball bouncing off of the floor with a loud thud. He looked down at the court with wide eyes, his breathing hitched and his knees slightly shook. He couldn't believe it. He missed a ball completely. His feet didn't even leave the polished floor.
His timing was completely messed up.
Yachi had approached Hinata that day while he was helping take down the volleyball nets, and provided him with straight forwards inquires: "Are you ok?" was the first question she asked. Hinata nodded hesitantly and Yachi quickly inquired once more, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I'm pretty sure I'm alright," Hinata softly grinned at Yachi who was already quite suspicious towards Hinata's behaviour. The grin didn't help at all. "Oh, I have to return the nets to the storage room," and with that Hinata walked away quickly, missing the quiet mumble that had escaped from Yachi's lips-
"You and Kageyama both, huh."
